Trek 11 : Let's see a Bridge Module Ejection.

Bones1864

Admiral
I picked up a copy of the Star Trek Technical Manual while I still in college in 1991 when it came out. I had no idea that the Bridge Module was an attachable Module. It would make sense: one module with ejection systems while teh ship is being tested. One module for peacetime. Anotherr module for war time and a different module for species that would breath different atmospheres. Another module would include all the upgraded software and hardware as part of a ship overhaul. I haven't looked at that book in years.
For Trek 11 as part of seeing something new can a Bridge Module Ejection sequence happen ? It would be something new and it would be a chance to see our new heros get to use the Backup Bridge somewhere else in the ship.

I can just see Kirk on the ship's intercom, saying "So long suckas!" as he hits the ejection button before a warp core collapse.

SonicRanger you beat me to it. ;)

Bones1864, I'm guessing you're referring to the TNG Technical manual; and therein lies the problem. This is a pre-TOS production, and to my knowledge there's no canon evidence that the bridge constituted an easily swappable module in that era. Anyway, why would they eject the bridge and then go to Auxiliary Control? If they're in spacedock they would attach another module, and if it were an emergency they'd just evacuate the bridge rather than ejecting the whole kit'n'kaboodle.

Besides, there's something about the whole idea that just screams "Thunderbirds"...

Editted for idiot bold typo... :o

Let's see a "I don't have a clue about this movie but i'm going to make assumtions about it anyway" ejection button installed into this forum so we can end things that much sooner then deal with some of these pointless threads that just take up space here, like this one, doh.

^Hey, now, it's entirely possible that Bones1864 has an in with the production team, and even now he's bending the ear of J.J. Abrams! Don't count anything out!

"I'm thinking detaching the bridge module in this movie would amount to premature ejection."

Spock: "The bane of Starfleet Constitution Class Captains Everywhere."

Kirk: "Spock...there's...somethingonthewing! Some!...Thing!"

:guffaw:

Seriously, bring on the bridge module ejection. I loooove this idea.

actually, just kirk's chair ejects. Or his toupee.

Better yet, his toupee ejects when danger approaches. (Obscure reference to a Monty Python sketch.)

I want XI to be like The Phantom Menace, where there is one magic button that performs all of the functions on the control board.

That would be hella cool

*scribbles down all these good ideas*

*runs off*
