TRANSFORMERS: War for Cybertron Thread

This game just keeps on giving. Up to level 4 now and wheee, I'm having so much fun.

I'll be sad when I'm finished.

I put in more time in MP than single-player last night. MP is a blast; single player is good, but not great so far. The color scheme sometimes makes it hard to navigate.

If anyone wants to play this weekend, add me on Live: XA Ace

My arrived from Amazon last night and I have to say I see nothing really special about t he game.
But as I said before I know nothing about the Transformers.

That said the buddy that talked me into it absolutely loves it.
I'm waiting on another bud that knows about the Transformer but is not as much as a geek as my other friend to get his and see what he thinks about it.

It's not Batman:AA Asylum good, but the MP is really fun. It's why I bought the game; I needed something for the summer and the demo sold me. The single-player does have some good fan service stuff, but the gameplay doesn't quite work as well. Then again, I am only up to the 2nd level.

I picked this game up this weekend and so far I'm enjoying it, it will certainly fill the void until Crackdown 2 comes out. I'm not a Transformers fan so I know nothing of the story (I did see the first movie but that's it.) This concept of playing as one side (the bad guys) and then playing as the other side is something new to me, an interesting touch. Although I guess I'm such an old antique, such a traditionalist, I would prefer to play the whole game as a "good guy."

Not sure this is a $60 game or not, I'm thinking I probably should have waited and got it used, but it's fun nevertheless.

I think I read somewhere that if you play as the Decepticons first, you'll understand more of the story for when you play as the Autobots.

That's how the game is structured. Acts I - V of the campaign are played as the Decepticons, while Acts VI - X are as the Autobots.

Yeah I actually jumped ahead and played chapter VI first, but then decided to go back and play it from the beginning. I was thinking the way this game was structured, if COD was like this, it would be like playing as the Allies for awhile, and then playing the battles over as the Axis powers.

EDIT TO ADD: Just a couple of thoughts about things not directly game related. I know that the game manuals are becoming more sparse, but c'mon guys this manual is ridiculously short. Also did anyone notice that the case the game comes in doesn't have a solid back? Yeah where the disc is at is actually a big hole simply covered by the back cover of the label. I'd never seen that before and I thought you cheap bastards, you can't even make a solid case any more? Seems like it's a broken disc just waiting to happen.

Of course neither of these are reasons not to buy the game, I'm just venting a little about how they went the cheap route with packaging and the manual.

^ These are supposedly eco-friendly cases. Some Xbox and Blu-ray cases are like that. Haven't seen them for PS3 or Wii yet.

Actually, the demo is incredible. After playing it, the game went from a "eh, check it out when it gets cheap" idea to a "buy it the day it cames out" one.

Does it feel like Transformers or a standard shooter with a Transformers skin?

It's exactly like that.

You have 2 guns you can use at one time, can transform into a vehicle with a different gun and can choose between various Bots with slightly differing armaments.. that's it.

It's an ego shooter with a Transformers theme. Not impressed.

This weekend is double XP weekend and a patch this week also to fix some MP issues.

I know that it isn't the greatest thing, but man is the MP fun! It takes bits from Halo, MW2 and Gears with a transformation mechanic that works. It is not just a 'skin', IMO. The better players transform liberally. I've really taken to the leader class; I love to lunch into a pile of enemies in my truck form, transform, drop my molecular bomb and warcry and own. I know a game is good (at least for me) when I spend all day at work waiting to get home to blast some Deceptiscum.

I just picked this up earlier today, along with Alan Wake. I decided to play through this first since I'm a Transformers nut, and this is the first halfway decent TF game I've heard of in ages. I just finished Act I, and I can already tell that this game is made of pure win! :D I'm looking forward to the Autobot campaign, since I'm a lame goody two-shoes, but it'll probably make more sense if I played the two campaigns in order.

It will. And the Autobot campaign is better, IMO. So you have some goodness to look forward to.

I'm really digging this game. The gameplay is really quite cool... I loved part of a mission I played as Starscream where I would transform into a jet, dash across a tunnel, and transform back just as I was over some platform and start opening fire. It was a pretty cool thrill.

Now I'm starting the Autobots campaign and it's still pretty cool. I haven't tried the multiplayer yet, though tonight I played a bit of co-op with a buddy and that was fun.

The voice cast is pretty rockin', too. I can never get enough of Peter Cullen as Optimus! Just the way he snarls "Megatron!" is just too freakin' cool.

I'm still playing this game. I just really dig the MP. I got the DLC (which I rarely) do and got my leader up to 25. Working on my scout now.

How's the online traffic? I read somewhere that it's starting to die.

I don't have any trouble finding games. (Xbox 360 version.) The PC version's multiplayer has been dead on arrival.

Last day for double XP this weekend, too!

You're getting a few thousand playing during peak times, but I've never had any trouble finding a game on the 360.

I hit 25 with my leader so now I am going to work on my scout. I think I have decent playstyle down with him.

The way to play with the Scout class is simply to cloak < decloak behind an opponent < raise hell with a melee attack followed by a kill with a shotgun blast < transform into vehicle mode < zoom away < wash, rinse, repeat. Now that the Leader's Warcry ability has been (justifiably) nerfed with the new patch, playing with a scout is the best way to grief other players. (Especially if you use the glitch that lets you drive up walls.)
