according to something i read, he's been hiding out in Africa after getting his ass handed to him by Prime again. this is probably what's prompted his adoption of an Earthen alt-mode.
That would make sense. He should just stay in vehicle mode though. Does Bay not get the whole "robots in disguise" thing?

Megatron was supposed to be a tripple changer in the last movie, or at least his toy was right?. He could easily disguise himself as a fighter jet or something like that. Anyways yeah the shredded cloth looks stupid. That being said everything I've seen so far seems promising. Of course I thought that with ROTF too. 
Megatron's disgraced and running from officials basically hence the shroud. He's an outcast.
Yeah I get that but he's a Transformer. The whole point of them is so they can transform and blend in and he's shown to have alternate forms before. Not to mention the fact that's he's a what? 20 foot giant robot or something like that? A piece of cloth is supposed to disguise him? I'm surprised no one else finds this amusing as I do.

Unlikely. The tanker truck that was on-set has the tarp, and it matches the toy pretty closely. I say it's safe to say he looks like this in the film.
Given that Shockwave is supposedly the new main bad guy, I'm willing to bet Megatron starts out the film already in his hidden Earth-mode, and plays the role of more of a skulking schemer character this time around. The tarp-over-the-face bit may be rather theatrical, but it gets the idea across.
Oh I get the idea behind it...and it doesn't look like a tarp to me. Hopefully it doesn't come across as silly as it looks with the toy.
i really don't get why you're harping on about robots-in-disguise when he was a frikking alien tank and a frikking alien jet before. like i said, NOT a very good disguise...
mind you, the stupid line in ROTF was 'no more hiding, no more disguises' as he and Starscream stand on top of a FRIGGING SKYSCRAPER IN LA!
