So right before the end of the new trailer, we see a man sitting in a rather TOS style bridge get launched at the camera

Is this Kirk's father on the Kelvin? Slowed down it doesn't look like him

I think it is, but I looked at BOTH screenshots and they were too blurey to really tell

Ok, just seems like an inglorious death for a heroic character.
I mean usually they fall over dead or explode off screen, not shoot across the room in front of the camera...

It is kinda what you'd expect to happen when you crash your starship into a Space Octopus, though. Before the really good inertial dampeners of the TNG era, anyway.
