Trailer Park Boys! (Spoilers)

Added a spoiler warning just in case. Anyways a friend slept over last weekend (I'm house and cat sitting for family friends who are on vacation at the moment) and we came across their Trailer Park Boys DVD Collection. Spent the remaining night and into Sunday morning watching Season One, Two, and Five! Now before this I've watched episodes casually enough to know all the characters and some of what went on but damn this show is hilarious. Bubbles is my favourite character and the person who has his shit together most, Ricky is a fucked up bastard who sems to care only about his dope and the money from selling him, and is proud that his daughter Trinity can drive his car and he got his Grade Ten! Julian has all of these master plans to get rich but they keep failing...it's a great series. Canadian made. I'm waiting for season four, six and seven (the remainder of the series that we didn't watch) and want to see the movie which seems to be a prequel. Anyone else watch Trailer Park Boys?

I have the whole series on DVD.

It's a terrific show that rewards repeat viewings. There's usually some crazy shit going on in the background that you miss the first time.

Like most good shows, it rose, peaked, and declined, and some elements in the last couple of seasons didn't work for me. But it was never less than good.

BTW, the movie isn't a prequel--it's more an alternate-universe version of the show. Sort of like the latest Trek movie, only without the time travel.

I'm a huge Trailer Park Boys fan...Season five is my favorite. I saw them do a 2 and a half hour live show earlier this year in a filled out arena, it was pretty fan-fucking-tastic. They even filmed a sequence for a new Trailer Park Boys movie using us as the crowd at a J-Rock concert, haha.

There's a Christmas special as well, set in 1997 that is an actual prequel to the show, has some funny bits like how Ricky got "The Car", how J-Rock got into Rap, etc...It's worth checking out if you can get a copy of it. It's not on any of the other DVD sets, it's basically an hour long episode.

If you like Trailer Park Boys, I recommend Eastbound and Down starring Danny McBride. He plays a washed up baseball player, it reminds me a lot of Trailer Park Boys, but a bit darker in tone, but McBride's Kenny Powers character has a lot in common with Ricky.

Julian's ever present lowball of rum and coke is always a hoot. And Bubble's ridiculous glasses.

Trailer Park Boys is one of my favorite shows. Ricky's abuse of the english language never fails to bring a laugh. I also own all 7 seasons on DVD and the X-Mas special.
