Trailer for SyFy's The Expanse

I guess they will have to tone Chrisjen Avarsarala down (who was awesome in all sorts of ways in which Nan Bacco was suppose to be but never was).

So my question is..does it look better (modern) compared to the last age of scifi space shows? Is it looking like Game of Thrones for Syfy like they wanted?

A pity, but yeah, I can't see SyFy allowing a character who says "fuck" every second sentence (and that's when she's in a good mood) in one of their shows.

I know absolutely nothing about the books, so watching the trailer with no expectations it looks pretty good. Syfy hasn't let me down yet.

Were there any characters at all in that trailer?

Main characters from books? Yes, several.

Not visibly or notably in the trailer, so...so what?

Here is a trailer breakdown for you that identifies all protagonists (and more) from the book:

You've seen as much as we have.
The books had character POV chapters like GOT, so there is that.
The authors are friends with GRRM and one is his assistant, so I'd say there is some healthy influence there.

huh...for some reason, it just didn't interest me.

Admittedly, the trailer itself is rather meh, though because of the books I'll be checking out the show.

But even then, I'm not as blown away by the books as many seem to be. They're decent reads, and there isn't much to complain about. But if anything, I found the world created in the books to be more interesting than the stories themselves. Although the books do have some interesting and memorable characters in them.

The casting I'm unsure about. Thomas Jane is a good actor, but in the trailer he's too good looking for the character of Detective Miller who is supposed to be some sort of grizzled noir detective who the books constantly describe as "dog faced." And Captain Holden is younger than I got the impression the character in the books is supposed to be.

This show is gonna be awesome. I noticed a lot of characters and scenes from the books in that trailer. I've got a good feeling that this show is going to turn out well, especially with Thomas Jane as Miller - my favorite character from the books.
