Game of Thrones would fit into the TOS era trope of finding Human planets.
Though the magic probably wouldn't.
I dont know, maybe if the magic were explained by telekinesis or advanced beings, I could totally see it being a TOS episode.

My one, BIG criticism of the trailer:
EVERYTHING is black, orange and teal!
What happened to all the other colours? What happened to YELLOW? RED? GREEN? PURPLE?
I thought we left the 'everything is dark grey'-phase of Trek with Berman&Braga, and Star Trek 09 was wonderfully colourful! But, like a zombie, it seems to return. Into Darkness, Discovery,... everything is DS9/VOY/ENT-grey again. Man, Enterprise notably improved at the same time they added some colours to it (3rd and 4th season). Also: lighten the fuck up! literally! The classic Star Trek starships were almost white. But nowadays we only have dark grey/black starships...
Hope they add some colours for the second season!

What bothers me is James Frain as Sarek. I know he's a good actor but something about his delivery is lacking to me. I wish they had gotten Gray Graham as Soval instead.
Absolutely, I think the gloomy atmosphere is what is throwing me off the most in the trailers.
Such as Carol Reed -- the director of one of my all-time favorite films (somewhere in the Top 10), The Third ManMichael Learned from The Waltons.

Female Michaels are probably about as common a male Carols (like Carol O'Connor).
Star Trek III: The Search For BarbsSo did I hear them right? Did they say they are going to the "Upside-down"?
Are they going to find Will Byers, "Eleven", and poor Barbara there?
Which would stand to reason if the Shenzou is older, and was in about the same era as the Kelvin.
And then he tells David he "never faced death like this", having also lived through Kodos the Executioner's reign of terror!
Sounds like you'll have to tune in and seeDo we see the Europa ramming the main Klingon ship at some point, seen from the bridge of the Shenzhou?
I'm still fuzzy on what is happening. The Shenzhou is definitiely engaging in combat at some point (are all those vessels Klingon though, including the one that may resemble Goauld death gliders a bit?) and seems to be abandoned at some point. The seemingly large starship, Europa, also is present at some point and rams a Klingon object or ship.
Burnham is seen running through empty corridors on what may be a starfleet ship, could be the Europa again (who sets it on the collision course?). Mudd is also involved with his own vessel. And at some point (maybe during or shortly after the battle, maybe after quite some time has passed), the Discovery comes in and takes Burnham on board.
I'm not sure where the arrest of Burnham or the scene where she wonders "what is happening on this ship" have to be placed. Is the latter on the Shenzhou or Discovery? Why is the Europa present, when the Shenzhou gives the impression of being out alone in a far reach of space?

It looks like the collision is happening in super slow-mo. I don't know if this was just a cinematic effect or if it may indicate some sort of time anomaly.![]()
