So Burnham is an 'Ensign Ro'. Solves the promotion problem. Glad they shed her wig after prison.
I haven't looked too closely, but my impression was that the USS Europa looked a bit like the USS Yamato from the old Starfleet/Klingon Academy games

That's the story pretty much how I figure it as well. I almost looks like Michael Burnham won't instantly be Discovery's first officer, which makes sense as she seems to be released from a cell by Lorca. My guess is that she's coming to Discovery at a lower rank as a science officer. This would also explain why she seems to share quarters with another crewmember.Trekcore fashions a possible story

It could just be my interpretation, but it looks like Tilly seems slightly nervous about Burnham being there. Like she's apprehensive about sharing quarters with an ex-con.This would also explain why she seems to share quarters with another crewmember.

Curly Burnham seems to be sporting Science Silver. My guess is Curly is in flashbacks.
What the fuck, that hair is totally rad! Way better than the boring straightened hair she has in some scenes.Maybe she's just having a bad (Ok, horrible) hair day?

Perhaps discovery is a very modern ship by the standards of that timeMaybe Lorca is one for idioms, and just means they're looking to find a new way to live life....
Right now I'm getting a vibe of The Wire meets Game of Thrones set in a deep underwater bunker.
I'm 90% convinced that this is going to be driven by wars and interpersonal bitching, just like every single other goddamn show out there.
It's becoming increasingly more difficult staying excited for this show. I'm sure it will appeal to some, but I can't imagine any really good episode, such as "Who Watches The Watchers" to be set in the environment that's being painted for us in the trailers. First of all, it seems like it's set in a dark bunker and second of all, there's no hint at any exciting exploration. I'll give it a chance, obviously, because the trailers might just be trying to appeal to the younger audience, but my optimism is fading. Right now I'm getting a vibe of The Wire meets Game of Thrones set in a deep underwater bunker.
