Maybe it's a bit hard for some to get too excited about this because it's just yet another new crew and apparently very high stakes, again. One thing that seems consistent across incarnations of Trek is every group of heroes gets a chance to stave off galactic war (or win one for the good guys if they can't), and save the universe (some get to do it more than once). It's like a rite of passage. High stakes obviously creates more dramatic stories than a story on how to grow quadrotriticale would, but after a while, it's easy to become numb to it. They even partially lampooned it at the end of TUC when Kirk walked onto the bridge and said in a self-aware and anything but a serious tone, "Once again we've saved civilization as we know it." Or even Kirk's line in GEN, "I take it the odds are against us and the situation is grim."
Thinking again about the last trailer, while the production values were high and it contained a high dose of Trek-style philosophizing, where was the humor? There's got to be humor.

I was thinking about the Klingons I wonder if what is supose to be different is that they aren't part of the Klingon military and have no connection to the High Council. They might be terrorist or rebels.
I would also like to see some clips showing their will be humor in the show. Also that cargo bay scene with all the plant life will no doubt play a important role for the fungus has on the show. That or we will really will get to see them into space weed like we were talking about in another thread awhile back.

One thing I found interesting:

Could it be that she was promoted to Captain of the Europa? That would be in line of the "It is time we thought about getting you a command of your own" line from the first trailer.
Maybe she was Captain of the Europa for 10 Minutes but instead of saving lives she started a war between the Klingons and the Federation. Would explain her being demoted again.
That's the story pretty much how I figure it as well. I almost looks like Michael Burnham won't instantly be Discovery's first officer, which makes sense as she seems to be released from a cell by Lorca. My guess is that she's coming to Discovery at a lower rank as a science officer. This would also explain why she seems to share quarters with another crewmember.
Curly Burnham seems to be sporting Science Silver. My guess is Curly is in flashbacks.

Perhaps discovery is a very modern ship by the standards of that time
It's becoming increasingly more difficult staying excited for this show. I'm sure it will appeal to some, but I can't imagine any really good episode, such as "Who Watches The Watchers" to be set in the environment that's being painted for us in the trailers. First of all, it seems like it's set in a dark bunker and second of all, there's no hint at any exciting exploration. I'm 90% convinced that this is going to be driven by wars and interpersonal bitching, just like every single other goddamn show out there.
I'll give it a chance, obviously, because the trailers might just be trying to appeal to the younger audience, but my optimism is fading. Right now I'm getting a vibe of The Wire meets Game of Thrones set in a deep underwater bunker.

You basically skipped straight to the end of the thread and ignored all the examples of trailers for previous series, didn't you? I don't think you could look at the DS9 trailer and get "this is going to discuss the mechanics of linear time and coping with the trauma of losing a spouse."
Actually, let's look at "Who Watches the Watchers".
Lots of action, nothing that indicates the actual story or moral core of the episode.
OK, this revises my theory on why none of Spock's family mentions her again, as she clearly is now known to have survived the Shenhzou disaster and started the (Four Years?) War between Federation and Klingons. She, therefore, is k'torr skann* - not just outcast, but excommunicated from her Vulcan foster family. On Vulcan she is considered dead, everyone who ever knew her (even Sarek, Amanda and Spock) forbidden even to speak her name in public.
* Given in the ST V:TFF novelization to explain why Sybok had not been mentioned until then.
