Tractor Beam Levitates Large Orbs with Sound Or Is It Just A Cloud Of Molecules?

At first I thought this might be the first real tractor beam. Then I began to ask myself, "How would they be able to move molecules around in space to create the same 'cloud layer' that the orb is resting on?
It shouldn't be to hard to theorize about.
Basically a grid of molecules would be projected above the emitter. The mass of the ship would then provide the weight to move the object forward as long as the molecules did not collapse which would then cause the ship to collide with the object being pushed.
The biggest problem would be to figure out how to magnetically align molecules in space that the interaction between molecules would create a field that would repel dust particles, which are bigger than a molecule, based on like magnetic properties.
