I love it. It looks less like the TOS enterprise then the new Enterprise does. What it does look like, however, is advanced. Futuristic. Like the entire armor has been molded or grown into a single thing, as if the windows light through the (transparent) armor. I love it.
I'm still not happy with the "swelling" of the nacelles and the engineering hull extending so far beyond the neck.
Can't say this really changes the new version much at all.
If he's suggesting the ship will be slightly changed for the next film, nice. But it's still not the TOS version, and I guess at this point not only will it never be, but maybe it SHOULD never be.
I dunno.

If the new ship had adherents as stubborn as the old it'd no doubt cause a few apoplectic fits.
well from a position of indignant aversion i've gone full circle and i'm in love with this design. I think the shape and curving of it makes complete sense with the swirling hugging furious warp effect that bathes it. It just looks designed and streamlined to travel in that warp effect and glide amonsgst its torturous currents majestic and awesomely. And even in stills with the warp effect, its definently iconic and dynamic.
I can't stop looking at it.

The odd thing is that a good while back someone posted their "update" of the original, and while others were RAVING about how nice a job he'd done, I really could NOT see a difference.
They apparently could, however.
If they'd only changed the ship to the degree they changed the uniforms, it would have looked far more familiar and yet still be new. I think it would have been easier for a lot of people to accept.
I'm still accepting of this new movie version, since this is a new timeline or a different reality entirely and the differences can be explained that way.
My only point is that if the above picture was supposed to be TOS-flavored, it needs some more seasoning. (Besides, why are the collectors yellow and the deflector red? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
)

is more in line with TOS Enterprise & the one we got was more in line with the movies with the aztec panaling & so forth. I like this design ''almost'' more then the one we got.
