The second half of the two part story covering the life of Khan Noonien Singh picks up right where the first half left off, and covers up to the point where he is frozen.
This is a great continuation of the last book, picking up a lot of the threads from the first half and continuing them in a way that made sense.
I really liked the conflict between Khan and the other former Chrysalis children. Morrison and Hunyadi were good secondary villains.
The big twist with Ament/Isis caught me off guard, I was wondering what happened to Isis, but that thought never crossed my mind.
The way things ended was a bit of a surprise for me, I was expecting Khan to be captured and forcibly exiled into space, so I was pretty surprised when he actually volunteered to leave the Earth with his followers. This ending does actually work pretty well with the end of Space Seed, since that allowed Khan to do what he was supposed to do in the first place.
The 23rd century story was tied up in a really nice way to.
Have we seen any stories with Rain and Roberta? That seems like it could be a really fun pairing.
Is Rings of Time consistent with Eugenics Wars?

EDIT: Ooops, could a mod add Review Thread to the title please.

Glad you liked the book. And, yes, RINGS OF TIME matches up with the EW books, although I mostly avoided references to the EW books so that the RINGS could stand alone if necessary.

Glad to hear. That actually makes me think I might want to move that, From History's Shadow, and Elusive Salvation up my reading list and do a 20th/21st Century Trek read through.

So who is supposed to vote for the last option in your poll? People who read it at or in a pool or people who think it's so bad they have thrown it in a pool? :nyah:

When @trampledamage does that, it wouldn't be a bad idea to add that it is about part two to the title as well.

Thought it was alright, but my favorite by far in the grouping was the last one, To Reign in Hell. That was really the story that needed to be told, and really helps get Khan from Space Seed to TWOK.

Yeah, I must have forgotten to proofread the thread before I started it.:brickwall:
Forgetting to proofread is a bad habit that I have, that I'm trying to break.

Since I was in there, it seemed only fair to edit the poll as well :techman:

It's been years since I read them but my memory is the second Kahn book is good but didn't quite live up to the first one but that's OK since I LOVED the first one so that's a pretty high bar to reach. Actually, I'm not even sure those numbers are correct. I consider all the following as part of a very loose series:

- Assignment: Eternity
- The Eugenics Wars Vol 1.
- The Eugenics Wars Vol 2.
- To Reign in Hell
- The Rings of Time

I liked all of those to varying degrees but my favorite of all those is Eugenics Wars Vol 1.

If you liked those, ronny, "From History's Shadow" and the recently-released "Elusive Salvation" were also written so as to be in the same loose series.
