It's like the old-school BATTLESTAR fundamentalists who can't seem to stop bashing the reboot, no matter what the topic. "Well, TRANSFORMERS 2 sucks . . . but not as much as nuBSG!"
Way back when, in the primitive days of the Internet, I was a member of a local BBS for a few years, until it became obsolete with the rise of the Web and closed down. There was one guy on that BBS who loathed the 1996 Paul McGann Doctor Who TV movie with an absolutely fanatical passion, to the extent that if anyone said anything remotely positive about the film, he would tear into them as savagely as if they'd advocated infant cannibalism. When the board finally closed down years later, in its very last hours, he came online specifically to make one last post whose topic, apropos of nothing, was how awful the Doctor Who movie was.
Sometimes I imagine him living holed up like a survivalist to this day, devising schemes to hunt down every copy of the McGann movie and burn it, drafting ideological tracts damning every fan and apologist of the movie as a traitor to humanity who must be brought before a war crimes tribunal. Or maybe not. The new Doctor Who series probably made his head explode.
