TOS Kiddie Records

Back in the late '70s, there were a number of Trek stories dramatized for audio and released on 45rpm vinyl. THIS one, I owned back in the day...and I managed to download 8 of them about 8 years back off of Usenet.

Anyway, it's about 16 minutes long and surprisingly not too far off track as a TOS story. (link removed see my post below) In Vino Veritas..."In wine there is truth". The guys who do Spock and Scotty pretty much suck, but the guy who does Kirk isn't wildly far off from Shatner.

If you like this, post to that effect and I'll look into uploading the other 7 that I have. :)

Wowsah is the right word for these...

Thank you, Kryton, thank you.

I love it that you made the genre rap.

Sorry Kryton, but I'm going to have to remove the links. Apparently the records remain under copyright (Inspired Studios, Roseland NJ) and you know the rules about downloading intellectual property:
As a fan site for a television show, intellectual property is an important topic for us. We cannot legally or morally condone tape-trading in episodes or downloading episodes online, and do not allow discussions on this matter. Any other copyright violations will also not be allowed.
Please don't post any more links, OK?

Oh! Dang...they've been out of print so long I figured they were fair (use) game.

Sorry about that, Mallory...a shame they have to go unheard. :(

I'll be listening. They are quite cheap on ebay. Since you posted that, Kryton, I put in a bid on some. Thanks again for turning me onto these.

No big deal. I actually had the same thought initially but after some research found out that they are indeed still copyrighted and by a label that's still around. At least folks here know about them now and can find them if they really want to.

Kryton, too bad you can't post the audio here. Of course if some anonymous person were to post them on youtube, that wouldn't violate any of the trekbbs policies. ;)

I remember those - never had one, but I remember them.... Back in the day, lol... I ddin't have any Star Trek, but Mr. Rodgers? He rocked!

No, only the potential earnings of the writers, performers - and the company that owns the publishing rights, perhaps discouraging them from ever re-releasing the products commercially. :vulcan:

All right! I just won my ebay auction for two 12" vinyl versions of these stories released in 1975. They are both still sealed. Both records cost me $2.75 plus shipping. My total charge will be less than $6.

The vinyl collector meets the Star Trek geek. I might break out in pimples!

Congrats! Enjoy (as much as you can). They were never "great" but they were certainly "fun". :)

Dang...I regret not being able to link to files of this...it was... ... ...interesting. At best. ;)

I have read about some turntables, which facilitate the convertion of the analogue data into digital format via a computer.

Where can you even buy a record player these days? What about needles?

I was without one for quite a few years, but there was a resurgence of branded models at my local electrical appliance store about three years ago so I bought one then.

Any CD shop can refer you to someone who sells styluses, or will order them in. I've found that the best locations for ordering a new stylus are the larger second hand music stores where the owner obviously knows the business.

I have a turntable, but it's not currently hooked up. I have boxes and boxes of LPs, but doubt I'll ever play many of them again. :(
