TOS Guest Stars who deserve (but never received) follow-up treatment

Re: TOS Guest Stars who deserve (but never received) follow-up treatme

Peter Kirk deserved a better follow-up than he got from New Voyages. I'm all for being cognizant of new social paradigms, but Peter was thirteen when we first saw him. Any follow-up should really keep him at that age, or only aging him from there in relation to the time passed since.

Uhura not being on any of the spin offs is the big one. I'd have loved to know what became of her after TUC.

Not getting Spock, Bones and Scotty to reunite on TNG or DS9 was another missed opportunity.

The Talosians deserved a follow up episode on either the original series or one of the spin offs.

Lt. Boma (I also liked this actor in Land of the Giants)

+1 for Uhura not appearing on TNG/DS9/VOY. Should have been done.

Trelaine should have made an appearance on TNG or DS9....perhaps along side Q.

Harry Mudd should have had a cameo in the bar in TSFS.

The true travesty was that none of the TOS characters made it to the Enterprise-D bridge.

I remember McCoy not going on the bridge. It has been a while since i saw "Relics" so Scotty didn't make it there either? I don't research TNG all that often so don't remember.

Of the four TOS characters to appear (McCoy, Spock, Scott, Kirk), none made it to the Enterprise-D bridge.

Re: TOS Guest Stars who deserve (but never received) follow-up treatme

1) It's a damn shame none of the TOS members made it onto the bridge of the Enterprise. It's a little understandable for Bones, because that was just a little morsel of a cameo, and though it left me wanting more, it also somehow feels perfect. Spock was on Romulus, so it stands to reason that the nature of the plot never even brought him onto the transporter room. However, Scotty and Kirk's TNG appearances were made to order for bridge appearances. In particular, I also felt that the exchange between Kirk and Harriman should've been the exchange between Kirk and Picard with the turbolift closing on Kirk's smiling face and leaving Picard in command of the bridge. Keeping the storyline more or less in place, how cool would it have been that Kirk stayed behind on the battle bridge of the decaying Enterprise-D's engineering section while the rest of the TNG crew escapes in the saucer section? With Kirk going down in a similar fashion to Picard in "Yesterday's Enterprise"?

2) Back to topic, I didn't see the big deal about Dr. M'Benga. I think I need to see his two appearances again. He was notable in his expertise on Vulcans, but at the same time, I don't remember anything particularly memorable about the performance. He came off a bit dry, to be honest.

3) I liked Lt. Radha in "That Which Survives". I thought the writing of the Spock character was very inconsistent in the episode, but one real-world, sort of retcon explanation I came up with was that Radha was kind of a Spock understudy, and I would've liked to have seen more of her. I also really enjoyed Lt. D'Amato, though he was killed in the episode.

4) Yeoman Barrows had very good chemistry with the main cast. You would've thought she had been with the cast since the first episode. Definitely one of the best guest stars of the show.

5) Commodore Mendez and Commodore Stone were both terrific.

I have nothing against DeForest Kelley, but I think TOS would have been more successful if the big three had been Shatner, Nimoy, and Marianna Hill as the doctor.

WAITAMINUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just had an epiphany.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I just thought how cool it would've been to see Kor, Kang, and Koloth in the audience during the climax of TUC.

Maybe after Kirk's speech, Kor could've smiled that devilish smile at Kirk and said, "Glorious, Captain." and walked away.

At least Kirk wouldn't have belly-ached as much about getting his regular physical...

"I don't like physicals. They give me a belly-ache and I got a beauty right now!"

Re: TOS Guest Stars who deserve (but never received) follow-up treatme

Kirk-Noel-Spock would have been a far more interesting triangle than Kirk-Spock-McCoy. With Dr. Noel, their dynamic would have been stoked up by attraction, protectiveness, the possibility of romance, etc. "The Empath" in particular would have been catapulted to a whole other level of emotional involvement.
