Re: TOS Guest Stars who deserve (but never received) follow-up treatme
1) It's a damn shame none of the TOS members made it onto the bridge of the Enterprise. It's a little understandable for Bones, because that was just a little morsel of a cameo, and though it left me wanting more, it also somehow feels perfect. Spock was on Romulus, so it stands to reason that the nature of the plot never even brought him onto the transporter room. However, Scotty and Kirk's TNG appearances were made to order for bridge appearances. In particular, I also felt that the exchange between Kirk and Harriman should've been the exchange between Kirk and Picard with the turbolift closing on Kirk's smiling face and leaving Picard in command of the bridge. Keeping the storyline more or less in place, how cool would it have been that Kirk stayed behind on the battle bridge of the decaying Enterprise-D's engineering section while the rest of the TNG crew escapes in the saucer section? With Kirk going down in a similar fashion to Picard in "Yesterday's Enterprise"?
2) Back to topic, I didn't see the big deal about Dr. M'Benga. I think I need to see his two appearances again. He was notable in his expertise on Vulcans, but at the same time, I don't remember anything particularly memorable about the performance. He came off a bit dry, to be honest.
3) I liked Lt. Radha in "That Which Survives". I thought the writing of the Spock character was very inconsistent in the episode, but one real-world, sort of retcon explanation I came up with was that Radha was kind of a Spock understudy, and I would've liked to have seen more of her. I also really enjoyed Lt. D'Amato, though he was killed in the episode.
4) Yeoman Barrows had very good chemistry with the main cast. You would've thought she had been with the cast since the first episode. Definitely one of the best guest stars of the show.
5) Commodore Mendez and Commodore Stone were both terrific.
