Very few Klingons had ever
let a human handle their
animals, and even fewer humans
are privileged to handle their
animals. Klingons rarely trusted other
species. The diplomat was there
under orders to travel to
Starbase 12 for negotiations. Kirk
didn't want Klingons on his
ship and he suspected they
were in reality spying on
his crew, and later, Starfleet.

keep an eye on him
and report any suspicious behavior
