TOS Episode for beginners

So, I have recently watched "Project Genesis" trilogy of the movies.

Out of the question, I am going to start watching TOS. Which episodes do you recommend for me to watch first?

Well that gets me interested. Thanks for your suggestions!

And if you have more, feel free to post...

People today find TOS too ancient or prehistoric! My family criticise me for writing posts about a show more than fifty years old! They don't understand how the writing was SO much better then compared to now! I just hope that that sixties retro style does come back in by the twenty third century! :techman:

To be clear, you don't have to watch all 79 episodes in order to sample TOS. It's not serialized like modern shows.

You can probably find any number of "Best TOS Episodes" lists and threads on-line, or even on this very board.

Usual candidates include the likes of The Doomsday Machine, Journey to Babel, The Devil in the Dark, The Corbomite Maneuver, Amok Time, The Trouble with Tribbles, and City on the Edge of Forever. Just as a start.

Ignore the naysayers! I mostly watch stuff from the TOS broadcast period and earlier. I envy my grandparents for having such good television programming and motion pictures in their day.

Just don't get too attached to the cast of "The Cage." :)
Too true, but It's my favorite episode so I gotta plug it whenever I can.

As for the Corbomite Maneuver, it stands out for me because I remember thinking the first time I saw it "Okay...this actually makes it look like there's a crew of more than five people on this ship." The best and most throrough use of extras in the whole series.
