TOS assault shuttle

That assault shuttle is great. The only thing I'm not sure about is that crossbar between the engines, maybe it needs something stuck on it?

I nabbed your "fighter" shuttle last night and converted it to .OBJ format, making it a tad more "cross suite" ready.

When might we see your "doomsday machine" available? I especially liked the craggy edge around the "maw".
Ah , I'd forgotten about that. I'm still working my way through my back catalogue of models, posting up as many as I can when I get the chance. I'll go find that one, tidy it up a bit and put it up for you.

Can you send me the .obj version in a zip or rar file for posting on the site? Stick a readme.txt in it with your credit and all the files?

If anyone else downloads one of the models from my site and converts it to another format, please let me know and I'll put it on the site for others to use.

The wing was stuck on more as an aerodynamic stability aid and strengthening beam, I didn't intend to put anything on it. I'll admit I thought about it for a minute, but it seemed a little too busy looking for a TOS ship.

If this is supposed to be a more robust military machine than the usual TOS shuttle is, then the wing could be there not just for strength, but for sharing drive plasma between the engines in case one is more in need than the other. Redundancy is good in something that is going to be fired upon.

Speaking of which, if this shuttle is going to assault something, it will probably dive in nose first, right? Shouldn't it then make sense to only have very small forward windows, or no windows at all? Something like the armored slits or slats of today's light fighting vehicle windows might look good on this baby. Or perhaps just one small window placed asymmetrically at a corner of the bow plate, evoking images of the asymmetrically placed steering pulpit of a classic landing craft.

For the same nose-first-into-the-fray reason, the aft door makes sense here while side doors wouldn't...

Love that "travel pod", BTW!

I figure the windows would be shielded in some way anyway, we used to see them sealed up in TOS all the time. Also the whole shuttle must be made from pretty stern stuff to withstand constant planetary descents, a double layer of that Unobtanium would probably suffice with some added shielding.

Redfern, I couldn't find that planet killer model, so I've remade it from scratch. it's probably a bit higher polycount and I even made an attempt at sticking the sparkly effect in there. Here's a pic...

You can download the model from my site now, I stuck this and 2 other models up just now.

Here's a not so awesome one for you then, knocked this out before lunch today...

I was playing around with a box and nacelles, wondering where to stick them that would be interesting looking. Then I thought why does this need nacelles anyway, I've never seen the TOS equivelant of the TMP travel pod or ENT inspection pod. Why not make a small, space-saving ship that can be used for short range ship-ship or ship-planet travel and doesn't need warp engines? Et voila!

Understatement. I like it. An assault shuttle might not be as complex as a standard shuttle. Just brutish enough to deliver the troops safely.:klingon:

On a bit of a shuttle kick right now, here's a Probert Type-7 that should be ready tomorrow some time if i get a break. The warp nacelles need to be replaced and decals added, but I'm not making the last version which looked worse but had tons of paneling detail on it. This will be one of the early ones, very clean and futuristic looking.

It's not brilliant, but there's a severe lack of models of this lovely looking shuttle, so I'll rush this version out now and maybe make a more detailed late model version sometime in the future.

Here's the one I would have picked if it were me...

A modest "in story" styled render using your shuttle...

Wow, nice to see one of my models in use. People seem to download tons of them, but I never see them in action. Thanks.
