Torchwood: Miracle Day premiere date

You're talking about 2|Entertain. If there's a way of screwing it up, they'll find it. :)

That said, I want to believe that Starz is the driver's seat when it comes to the series in terms of content and eventual home release. They're the ones taking the chance on this, after all.

^Really? Cos I'd rather not have the Starz brand of sex and violence onscreen unless it's important to the story which, lets face it, rarely is.

Well if I enjoy the episodes that air in the UK I'd be happy with a DVD that refelcted that. This is the trouble with co-productions, still without it we might not be getting Torchwood so c'est la vie...

I guess that gives people a reason to download the US version and still watch the UK version.

new Torchwood radio plays, I almost missed that thanks for telling me.

I see the BBC is again filling that "gap" between Exit Wounds & Children of Earth Part 1, never mind that, never mind that, that gap already contains the first 4 audio plays, 2 episode of Doctor Who and countless novels, audio books & comics.

yeah your right, the BBC have apparntly missed that people still think of Torchwood is a UK show, and dont expect it to air weeks or months after its aired in the US, no matter who has paid the bills.

The Beeb could get away with justfing an air date after the US due it being a UK/US co-production, but after Canada and Australia is a different matter.

They don't have to justify it. Could write in and complain but I doubt you'd get anything more than an auto-response and maybe a "It's difficult to schedule because of other events that are on at the moment."

^I think that is what they call a non answer, the BBC twitter re: scheduling of it could mean

1.>Exactly what it says
2.>They have received a number of complaints enough for them to realise they might have made a mistake and are looking at ways to schedule it earlier tna originally planned.

The realiest in me says it's the former.

But I suspect that the BBC could find a slot for it say on BBC3 to appease the core fans, and air it later on BBC1 for the general audiance, and no doubt the fans would rewatch anyway.

I doubt it's number two. The whining of fans on the Internet isn't going to register on the seismic scale. Annoyed by it? Sure. Annoyed by it enough to do something about it? No.

They already have it scheduled, they know exactly when it'll be but they're not ready to announce it would be my guess.

Exactly. At the end of the day we're not even 1% of the audience, just a lot more vocal than the other 99%.

Even if every fan goes the DL route it won't have any real impact on the ratings.

Heh, alot of folks in this thread are complaining it's #2. Oh wait, you meant number two on that list, didn't you, I was thinking baby talk ;)

Well according to that twitter quote they haven't yet scheduled it. So no matter what the BBC does it's going to get complaints.

1.>That they haven't scheduled.
2.>That people aren't happy with the scheduling date.

The general feeling in this thread seems to be, No matter how much I watch on BBC (even if that is only DW and Torchwood), I have to pay for a TV License so how come a show which I have paid in part for is being shown in countires that didn't pay for the show(only the rights to air it) are getting it before me.

The easiest thing to be do would be to reverse it, and say how would you feel if you paid for something but didn't get it till after x number of other people.

Though the BBC could yet suprise us, with multiple episodes a week so we end more or less at the same time.

Except, Starz didn't just pay for the airing rights, they paid a big chunk of the budget to make it, if their contribution was as small as Airing Rights, BBC wouldn't be in this predicament. Though, yea, you kinda have a point with Canada and Australia, although, they are getting it after America, so, I think that's what counts considering how much Starz invested.

That being said, I don't subscribe to Starz, so I won't be seeing it until it's airing rights are re-sold or it comes out on DVD :(

^I think Starz paid the majority of it. And just like Rome, Tudors, Krod Mandoon, Band of Brothers, etc. They were shown in the US, and probably other places well before here. Not just BBC shows either. ITV have done it too, Afterlife, Wire in the Blood, Primeval have all had international showings before the UK ones. It's not as unusual as people seem to think. Oh and in reverse, we have had parts of seasons of Farscape, SG1 and SGA, and BSG air here before the US.

Well in the case of nuBSG, Sky One did co-fund S1 of it, so just like Startz co funded Miracle Day they can show it before the other co-funder. The issue is did a network other than Sky air nuBSG before it aired on Sci-Fi.

As for ITV not finaced by the License fee, same with Sky who aired SG-1/SG: As I recall with SG-1/SG:A the UK might have aired a few days ahead of the US.

IIRC the used to start showing a Season after the US but finish before them for some reason.

Babylon 5 frequently aired on Channel 4 before it did in the US too and they certainly didn't fund it in any way.
