Torchwood: Miracle Day premiere date

Well there is the lack of mention it's a BBC original series and not a Starz original series.

I guess you missed the BBC copyright at the end then.

How many times does this come up, It's a Starz original because it's produced/co-produced by Starz, so it is original and exclusive to their network in the US. Just as Stargate was a Syfy Original despite starting on Showtime, Being Human US is a Syfy Original despite being a remake of a BBC Show, etc. They could be showing the least original thing ever but if it was (co-)produced for them then it's "Original" to the channel.

Here in Canada, SPACE will be launching their HD channel (about time!!) with Miracle Day. Alas, it seems it'll only be on the Bell service. Rogers doesn't have any current plans regarding the station. :(

Saw an ad on CP24 for Miracle Day next Saturday at 9pm

Yeah, SPACE was running promos throughout the Torchwood marathons this past weekend.

On a related note, I really enjoyed the marathon. I hadn't seen seasons 1 and 2 in years and it was good to finally see them again. I know S1 gets a lot of flack for a variety of reasons, but I thought it was good, though I did like S2 more. I had also forgotten how S1 had ended, with Jack hearing the TARDIS, then dashing off, so I couldn't resist watching "Utopia" right after, where we see that follow-through at the beginning. As for S3, I had recently watched it a few months ago so I didn't watch that part of the marathon, though I did watch Day Five on DVD again because, damn, it was really good. :D

Now I'm all set for Miracle Day!

damn didn't realize there was a Torchwood marathon as I've seen all of CoE except the last part.

I'm at a screening of the first Miracle Day episode right now in Philadelphia. It hasn't started yet but it should be fun. Pretty cool group of people here.

I'm not going to write a full review but I will say that this was VERY good. I can't wait for the rest of the season.

Hi folks,

My name is James, and I'm actually helping Starz reach out to communities - glad to see so many folks are interested in seeing the show!

Hi JamesFanscape! What's Starz' arrangement with Netflix, if any? My Netflix queue lists Torchwood S1-3 (streaming and DVD) but not S4, and from past experience, by the time a show debuts, Netflix at least has the titles available for wait-listing.

This is getting absurd.

Canada is getting both versions -- the UK cut on first broadcast, the US cut on repeat a few days later.

*shakeshead*

To be honest, I got mixed feelings about this. To be honest, this whole thing is getting out of hand. Regardless the differences between the UK and US versions, the plot will remain the same and this won't impact the overall storyline. I would gladly sit down and watch one version of Torchwood and not worry that someone in a different country saw a scene in it that I didn't. If necessary, I could always watch that particular scene on YouTube.

However, it is kind of cool of Space to provide two different versions of the show, and I'm sure completist Canadian fans will be appreciative of it. It's this sort of thing that makes Space such a great channel, they go the extra mile to make sure fans get the full enjoyment of the shows. Space really is an awesome channel.

I think it's really cool myself, if you don't care you can just watch one or the other and if you're interested you can watch both. I myself am always fascinated by alternate versions so I'll be curious what the differences are. I don't really see the negative side of showing both.

The BBC has confirmed after formal complaints were made by members of the public that Starz has the contractual right to the world premiere of Torchwood: Miracle Day. It is not allowed to be shown in other territories until the day after, but the BBC have come up with an excuse that says that they have identified what they "think is the best slot for BBC One viewers and have also ensured that it's within a week of transmission in the US."
