Torchwood: Miracle Day premiere date

All this talk of different versions has killed the last tiny spark of enthusiasm I had. Hopefully they'll combie both for DVD and I'll watch the full uncut versions.

Well frankly that's not a good enough reason. At least in True Blood (not your choice I know, for the same reasons) the sex and gore is an intrinsic part of the plot and not something done ad hoc because the writer wants to see two actors at it like rabbits before getting back to the actual plot. It's like a kind of potter's wheel for the prurient.

Oh I really like True Blood for that reason. I turned off at first but when I heard people saying it was actually good I gave it another go. Unlike Camelot that occasionally has a sex scene that are connected to the plot but mostly just seems to chuck them in.

Help me out here. Where was all the on-screen sex in Torchwood? Hell, there wasn't even any nudity unless you count Barrowman's bum. And you see more blood and gore in the average episode of 'Supernatural'. There seems to be this fantasy version of the first two series that exists mainly in people's minds.

And you know what; I'd still take that fantasy version over one censored by some Nanny State Corporation deciding what I can and can't see.

As has already been pointed out, the sex isn't the problem with the BBC, bless 'em. It's the violence. I don't see the point in gratuitous violence any more than gratuitous sex or even snogging for no good reason other than that there are two pretty people on screen so obviously they have to snog. It's so fucking chav.

Doesn't just have to be sex to be gratuitous. Violence, swearing, etc. I don't think you'll find anyone who didn't think the swearing in the first series wasn't gratuitous. Not just gratuitous but juvenile. I swear a lot and I found it to be gratuitous a lot of the time.

*raises hand*

I never found any "adult" aspect of the first series of Torchwood gratuitous. I wasn't impressed by them, either, but they were plainly part of the show's sensibility.

I thought the Gwen/Carys make-out scene in "Day One" was gratuitous. It was hot, yes, but also completely pointless and wildly out-of-character for the people involved. :)

Other make-out and sex scenes in first season Torchwood? Not gratuitous, though Owen needed to work on his post-coital conversation skills. :)

The sex wasn't gratuitous. The kiss, while stupid wasn't either, it served the purpose of showing the alien effected everyone but only needed the opposite sex. The language on the other hand was mostly pointless and basically juvenile. The second series did swearing much better.

The second season did everything much better. I think I even prefer it to Children of Earth. CoE was better crafted, but it lacked fun.

God yeah the languge was just terrible, was more like a builder's merchants than a secret organisation!

Here in Canada, SPACE will be launching their HD channel (about time!!) with Miracle Day. Alas, it seems it'll only be on the Bell service. Rogers doesn't have any current plans regarding the station. :(

It was one thing when a cable company had a virtual monopoly in an area, but it's flat out stupid for a cable or satellite company to not carry something nowadays.

BBCA HD was one reason (among many) I switched back from Comcrap to Dish. That and Dish finally got a satellite to the SE of the U.S.

Well it's official:
Torchwood – Miracle Day: The New World Ep 1/10

Thursday 14 July
9.00-10.00pm BBC ONE (Schedule addition 29 June)

One has to wonder if this is a reaction to the number of complaints the BBC has recieved rather than that's when they where going to air it to begin with.

Nope, that's exactly where it was rumoured to be airing all along. Well for the past month or so anyway.

We're getting spoiled when almost everyone is going to get this within a week of the others and there's still complaints.
