Re: TORCHWOOD: Miracle Day episode two "Rendition" disscussions & comm

ive not read back, so here is my quick review

Very little happend

now an extended review

This episode reminds me of the 2nd episode of Children of Earth, you know the one where Jack was incase in concrete, and Ianto goes to rescue him, whilst Gwen and Rhys make their way to London.

In this episode Jack & Gwen make their way to the USA, whilst Gwen has the save Jack not from concrete this team, but from posion.

Meanwhile the government and other shadowy people continue to be mysterous, but not move the plot to a new location but no where else.

A few points however

1) Do people even need food?

2) If we have a pension crisis now, what on earth will we do in the future

3) If we all continue to age, does that mean we will all become like the Doctor in Last of the Time Lords?

Talking of things done by the Master, have we not seen one big event happen to all of humanity at once before, everybody turning into the Master.

Thankfully, there was no evidence that Owen maintained control over his bodily parts even after they were separated as the miracle victims do. He was never dismembered, though, so there's no evidence he didn't, either. I'd rather think he didn't, though. As huge a bastard as Owen was up until the episode or so before he died, no one deserves that.

People were still eating and drinking and in the show it's been several days, so yes. At least to prevent starvation, which, wouldn't kill you, of course. But, you would be in pain.

I~'m enjoying this but throughout the show I felt I wanted to see more of peoples reactions in the world and less time on Jack being poisoned. This CIA is an interestig character. Cruel snapping her neck like that when everyone else in the show gets knocked out with one punch.

I was going to say that maybe people wont need to eat quite so much, since they cant die due to not eating, but then it occured to me that even without everybody suddenly becoming immortal, that is true of alot of people now.

People don't seem to really heal, so, if you become emaciated, you might be stuck that way.

Plus, there's the consequences if things turn normal and everyone dies.

Re: TORCHWOOD: Miracle Day episode two "Rendition" disscussions & comm

Rex seems to be doing ok, for someone who had a pole go though his chest.

That said you are right people are not healing (other than Rex) which makes me think this isnt something related to Jack, as if it was, they would heel, and Jack is (was) aging at a much slower rate than people are.

People don't need to eat to survive, no, since they can't die. However, food doesn't just keep people alive. It's how they get their strength and energy. Prolonged starvation would likely just result in people being thin, weak, and barely able to function. Not to mention being hungry all the time is not a pleasant feeling.

I was thinking the same about Rex who could barely walk in the first episode. I think people are healing but its at the normal rate so it's not quick. Rex is risking more pain by not allowing his body to heal as much as it can. It would be interesting to know what the body can heal from in this world without death. But I doubt the series will cover a long enough time period for that.

No, people are healing. But the more traumatic the wound, the slower the healing process, until, it seems, beyond a certain point the body stays alive but never gets better. There's an extra in ep 3 that seems to illustrate this.

I'm way behind on my viewing but I thought this episode was a shocker, some of the most wooden acting I've ever seen. not going to bother with the rest.

^ Unfortunately, it doesn't get much better (as of episode five, at any rate).
