Torchwood is to perverted...

I must admit, I did find the approach taken by series one Torchwood to be highly irritating. RTD's boast, 'in this series, EVERYONE has a same sex kiss!', seems to be nothing more than an attempt to Make A Statement. Rather than having a gay or bisexual character, everyone was forced into situations, irrespective of what we knew about them, to support an agenda. I found this undermined both the drama and characterisation on the show.

Ianto was the extreme case of this. Just weeks after his girlfriend is murdered, he's playing stopwatch games with her killer. Ludicrous.

And just for the record, it is not the fact that homosexuality and bisexuality occurred on Torchwood that annoyed me. It is the hamfisted, bungling portrayal during season one that did. I hope that statement was unnecessary, and that my fellow TrekBBSers understand where I'm coming from on this. But in my experience it is distressingly common for peoples views to be misunderstood.

Don't worry I understand what you mean perfectly, and agree. When the show did it well (ie Jack and Jack) it was much better.

I suggest we stick to the actual topic and avoid the sidebars.

i suggest we lock the topic as ridiculous and possible trolling.

Poppycock! It's a legitimate criticism of the show.

Miracle Day brings up a worrisome thought about Jack and his relentless promiscuity. If a population of immortals becomes the perfect breeding ground for anti-biotic resistant bacteria, what must Jack be harboring by now?! There has to be something offsetting this in his case or his lips on yours would literally be the kiss of death.

I never thought of that, I suppose same could be said for the highlander tv show...

I'd assume if his system repairs everything it also kills any infections rather than immunises him, but who knows/cares, it's fiction and won't matter unless they come up with a story where it does.

Well, in "Rendition"
Before he realizes he's been poisoned, Jack speculates that he's feeling ill because of his new mortality, and that in the 2200-plus years since he's needed it, his immune system has atrophied beyond uselessness. That ended up not being the case, but they might've been planting the seed of a future plot development.
