Did Garak ever find out that Damar killed Ziyal? What was his mental state where he did find out she was dead? Or Garak didn't know she was dead, Maybe he thought she returned to Cardassia. I never really saw the sixth season of DS9 when it was on TV.

Garak found out Ziyal was dead in "Sacrifice of Angels", the episode she died. Her body was left on DS9, and Garak came onboard with our heroes after the Dominion pulled out. He took the death pretty well; I don't recall it coming up in season seven when he interacted with Damar, but it's been a while.

I think there was brief mention of it, basically a "I don't like you, but I'm going to put it aside" IIRC.

IIRC in the final arc of the series when Damar turned against the Dominion and Kira was ordered/asked to go work with him she protested saying he killed Ziyal. She eventually did go. I don't recall Garak saying anything to Damar about it.

By the time the rebellion kicked off, they needed Damar alive. If he'd survived it to become the new (old) leader of Cardassia in peacetime, I strongly suspect he would have met with an "accident".

While Garak may be a devious, murderous bastard, he is at least a professional devious, murderous bastard. Job first, personal feelings later.
