Tora Ziyal has cancer

Here's hoping SCIENCE!!! can save the day!

Don't neglect your spiritual side if you have one. Pray to Christ if that's your thing. That's what I do and it doesn't seem to make things worse for sure. ;)

We're all here for you... this is just another Challenge to overcome and I have no doubt a year from now you'll be like "maaaan remember when I had that tumor? LOL now but boy was that SERIOUS for awhile!"

Best of luck, Tora. This is definitely not good news, but keep in mind that they do amazing things with cancer treatment these days. I know several people who have beaten it, including my Father, who will be ending his chemo shortly.

I'm also shocked and saddened to hear of your assault. Always remember that you can always find comfort and moral support from the nice people here at TrekBBS.

Keep us informed of developments, and try to stay optimistic.
 
God and I really aren't on speaking terms at the moment...but I will send all the good karma I can.

I had a cancer scare a few years ago (although not nearly as scary as yours) and I remember how I felt at the time...so believe me - you have absolutely all the good karma I can muster!

Okay, it's not quite an absolute, because I still don't have the biopsy results. But the orthopedic surgeon who did the biopsy Friday said there is "zero chance" that the mass on my lower spine is benign; they just need to figure out exactly what it is.

Unfortunately that surgeon, whom I really liked so far, can't fit me into his schedule in a reasonable timeframe and said I should find someone else. So now I'm actually looking for spine specialist number three.

Aside from all the obvious fears regarding surgery and a life-threatening illness... A few of you know that I was raped / robbed / assaulted w/ a deadly weapon back in May. My PTSD was healing nicely, until this came up. Now it's been stirred up again big time.

I would really appreciate prayers from those of you who pray and good vibes or whatever from those of you who don't.

OMG, guys, I am totally blown away by your kindness and the sheer number of responses. Given that we spend most of our time, at least in the threads I take part in, having pretty silly conversations, who would've thought?! You have no idea how much I appreciate it.

Thank you so much. I can't imagine how horrible and terrifying it must for a child or teenager to be sexually assaulted or abused. At least I had a whole lot of life experience to help me cope.

Remember, since you probably caught this thing early and it isn't in your brain you're probably going to be fine. You might just be able to have the doc cut it out, no drugs or radiation required. I pray that you kick this thing's ass!
 
Best wishes to you, Tora. I hope, if this is cancer, that it's caught at the earliest stage possible, and that any treatment you have to go through is minimal. It's a scary thing to go through, but you are very strong. I will absolutely pray for you, that you'll recover quickly and well, and that you'll find an awesome medical team, which can make all the difference.

Wouldn't that be nice! Unfortunately, it's not likely that two orthopedic surgeons and three radiologist all have dirty eyeglasses. :( ;)

You have my fondest wishes. When I found out I had a brain tumor, it was a shock to say the least. Plan like you are going to live forever and live like it is your last day; that's the best advice I can give you.
