2019: Maverick is now President of the United States, and an alien invasion is in progress. He hops into an old forgotten Tomcat at Area 51 and leads one last desperate mission against the alien fleet.
"That drone's flying upside down!"
My thought exactly. If you don't show any signs of professional growth such as accepting a promotion, then they'll boot your ass. Doesn't matter how good you are."You won't retire." Yeah like they give you a choice.
That trailer was arguably the best trailer ever put together
This movie will no doubt be incredible
Tom Cruise is going to fold us all like laundry, again
And again, there's no way Maverick is still a captain and still serving. Either he was promoted or booted during that long period of time. This movie looks to have the same issue as X-Files and Gilmore Girls, the people making it don't want to actually admit time has passed. Like X-Files and Gilmore Girls revivals have been said to be the original plans for new seasons when the shows went off the air. That doesn't work when so much time has passed. If they made this movie 30 years ago, than fine, but today a 60 year old fighter jet pilot? We use drones. The drone that Iran rightfully shot down was the size of a 737. This movie looks more useless than Die Hard sequels.
And again, there's no way Maverick is still a captain
Still? He was only a Lieutenant in the original film.
If he's a Captain now, it means he's been promoted three grades...
"Still" after 35-plus years of service. Colonels/navy captains who aren't selected for promotion are automatically retired the first day of the month after they hit 30 years of service, it's federal freaking law.
