Top Gear Series 17 starts Sun June 26

I missed the whole last season but they are showing it again on Sundays nights now on BBCHD.....just saw the one with the new Hummer.

That was a big bugger.

That wasn't a new Hummer, they don't make Hummers anymore. The H3 was just there for a comparison on how bloody huge that truck was.

If I only had half a million, then it wouldn't be worth blowing the whole lot on one car, even one as beautiful as the Speedster. However, if I'd won the lottery and had millions of pounds to spare, then the price would be irrelevant.

I dunno.... for a half a million dollars there are several cars I can think of that I'd rather have. Also, someone on the show made a point about an original, mint E-Type Jag going for about 100k. I think I'd go that route so I can enjoy the style and substance of the original, and then buy a real supercar to go along with it. A Zonda or Lambo or something.

It ended predictably though, the setting-thing-on-fire thing isn't exactly new.

Yeah, there was some obvious scripting in that one, but it was pretty funny regardless.

Rowan Akinson made for a rare SIARPC segment that I actually decided to watch, too. And the Nissan GT-R was insane.

One would hope it was scripted...particularly in the case of effluent splattering on the guys on Jeremy's train!!

I should hope it WAS scripted, that was live and in-use railway they were gallivanting around on!

And it's Top Gear. What did you think would happen to the caravan?

Oh btw do our American comrades get to see Top Gear over there or not shown????

^ Premiers on the 22nd of August I believe.

It's not so bad. I'm not tempted by spoilers, like when there was a gap for Dr. Who.

And I still want another attempt for the Reliant Robin shuttle!

ha ha, well I only know that because of local knowledge, and I don't know for sure that's where they filmed it but given the Loughborough to Leicester nature of the task it seems likely :)

Sky said the last episode was fourth of six. I thought I'd missed the start of the series, then thought hard and remembered I'd seen them all, rally Mini, E-type Jag, new Range Rover etc

Not bad episodes, but clearly none of them stuck in my head. Like the Times said, past its prime, but still enjoyable.

I questioned May expousing the "car train" as the best thing he's ever done, especially since he's been up on and one of the few individuals in the world to experience a sub-orbital flight. Guess it was just the fun of the moment.

Rowan Atkinson's Interview was great, and I enjoyed his fairly calm lap.
