Top Five Favorite "Britcoms"

None.

Honestly, none. Anytime I try and to watch a "Britcom" I fall asleep.

I defy you to not enjoy this.

 I haven't seen that one. Thank you.

My list;

1. Monty Python.

The rest in no particular order...

The IT Crowd
The Vicar of Dibley
The Goodies (yes, the Goodies)
Keeping Up Appearances

The Goodies. I remember them. 1970s. "Goodies. Goodie goodie, yum yum." Can't remember the last time I saw the show, though. Probably was the 1970s.

Blackadder, especially the last one
Are You Being Served?
Red Dwarf: I've seen only a couple episodes, but it's on my Netflix queue.

Chef!
Red Dwarf
Fawlty Towers
The Brittas Empire
One foot in the grave

oh so may others as honorable mentions

the thin blue line
waiting for god
open all hours
are you being served..etc

I used to really like Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, but when I rewatched it a few years ago it didn't appeal to me anywhere near as much. I'm not a fan of Fawlty Towers - at all -

Even though I put Fawlty Towers on my list, I'll admit there are some cringe-inducing episodes with situations that are hard to watch. But to me, they are counter-balanced by about five great episodes where you could actually feel a bit of sympathy for Basil.
I must have seen all of the cringeworthy episodes of Fawlty Towers first, because I remember not liking the show at all when it was first aired. Did end up seeing at least a couple of the good ones later on, though.

...and I cannot stand anything with Rowan Atkinson in it.
Agreed about Rowan Atkinson. Just can't abide by him for some reason, even though Black Adder is considered very good by many people.

I really, really, REALLY find the infantile humour in "Mr. Bean" cringeworthy and unenjoyable and for many years actually thought it was RA I had a problem with; I didn't get to watch Blackadder before "Mr. Bean" had become an international phenomenon and hence didn't have a solid base-line on the guy...

Blackadder and The Thin Blue Line luckily changed all that -- I now know not to watch "Mr. Bean" and can concentrate on the brilliant stuff the guy has made.

I really really hate Mr Bean but I enjoyed the thin blue line and blackadder.
Mr. Bean (together with a couple of other Bean-like characters portrayed by Atkinson) was something I could never convince myself I liked; in fact, most of it quickly made me want to change the channel. I much enjoyed the Blackadders, though - some of those were nothing short of brilliant. I'm not familiar with The Thin Blue Line - will probably have to check that out.

Fawlty Towers
Blackadder (though I don't like the first series all that much)
My Family (the first three or four series at least)
Keeping Up Appearances

I used to like Absolutely Fabulous, but now I only find that show annoying.

1. Yes, Minister/Yes, Prime Minister
2. Fawlty Towers
3. Chef!
4. My Family (I'm amazed that this is still on the air - I haven't seen an episode in about five years, though, and don't know if it's even still airing here :( )
5. Blackadder

Actually, My Family featured a moment that I think may be the funniest thing I've ever seen on television - I almost fell off the couch laughing. For those who haven't seen the show, the oldest son, Nick, is forever trying to decide what career path he might eventually want to pursue. In this one episode, he decides to learn to be a piano tuner. Throughout the episode, in scenes in the living room, he's seen in the background practicing on the family piano. After a rough day, the father comes into the living room and sits down at the piano...

He presses a key, and a note sounds. He presses another key, and the same note sounds. He starts banging on the keyboard, and discovers that Nick has tuned every single key to the exact same note.

^ That scene is so great :D

But the scene that really cause me to have a laugh-flash was when Ben talked to Susan about how his peeing changed over the years and how, today, he just leans forward, rests his head against the wall and just lets it flow.
Susan's reply to all this just killed me... 'As much fun as it is to talk about your impending incontinence...'

  1. Spaced
  2. Black Books
  3. IT Crowd
  4. Monty Python
  5. Ab Fab

honorable mentions to:
Misfits
Peep Show
Blackadder
Fawlty Towers

Good Neighbors (Brit version of Green Acres - or visa versa)
Monty Python's Flying Circus (should make everyone's list)
The IT Crowd
Mr Bean
Red Dwarf

Good Neighbors (Brit version of Green Acres - or visa versa)
Err...no. The Good Life (as "Good Neighbours" is known everywhere else) and Green Acres aren't the same show at all. The Good Life = self-sufficiency in suburbia; Green Acres = lifestyle change from big city to countryside. They really have nothing in common. ;)

Blackadder, Fawlty Towers and Mr Bean are my three favourite comedies. I haven't seen any other British comedies.
