Top 75 spaceships of Science Fiction

I'd have put the Falcon at number one. Even though this is probably not the place to go saying things like that.

I can think of half a dozen ships that would have been better #1's than the dropship, and the Falcon is one of them.

If one is using coolness as a criteria then anything is game as long as someone likes it. But if the criteria is recognition factor then the list gets shorter. And if it's based on impact on SF design then I think the list gets even shorter.

This list was obviously made by model makers. Otherwise, why all of the links to other models? As a "greatest spaceship" list it is, of course, a major fail, with too many great ships from major shows missing. No Vorlon cruiser? Seriously?

The turd-log whale probe made the list. I should just stop reading it right now.

Galactica itself deserved the list more so, than its shuttle.

Yeah, Babylon 5 did get shafted.

AND THE BIGGEST WTF?

No Cygnus? I'm not a Black Hole fan, but come on...they had both ships from Event Horizon and the saucer from Carpenter's The Thing. The Cygnus is ten times more memorable and interesting looking than that saucer.

Also, classic Klingon battlecruiser seems to get the shaft for the kewl Bird of Prey.

Mine would go something like

#1 Nostromo
#2 Moya
#3 Enterprise (original)

The Defiant and the "Whale Aliens" ship from STIV would be in the top 10 somewhere as well.

Tie Fighter, Millenium Falcon, X-Wing, those are high up there too ...

My favorite Star Wars vehicle is the Y-wing though. Badass-looking.

the TARDIS - as cool as it clearly is - shouldn't be on there, it's a time-machine.

TOS NCC1701
Klingon D7
Klingon Bird of Prey
Klingon Vor'cha class
Romulan Warbird
USSC Discovery
NSEA Protector
classic Battlestar Galactica
Sulaco
Millenium Falcon
X-Wing
A-Wing
B-Wing
TIE fighter
TIE Interceptor
Eta-2 Actis Jedi Starfighter
White Star
USS Defiant
Enterprise-E
Imp Star Destroyer
Y-Wing
Naboo N-1
Naboo Royal Star Cruiser (TPM)
Liberator
Eagle transporter
C-57D
SA-37 Hammerhead (S:A&B)

of course, the lack of B5 ships makes no sense (even for me as a non B5 fan, they had some cool ass ships) when both Jedi Starfighters are included...

the TARDIS - as cool as it clearly is - shouldn't be on there, it's a time-machine.

It's a spaceship, too.

Yep - it's even been called a "spaceship" in several episodes...and a few weeks back in "The Time of Angels" we saw it racing through space after another ship.

Plus, it uh...goes to other planets like, all the time.

And as Einstein said: space=time & time=space.

(I must admit, the first time I head it called a "spaceship" - in some lead-ins Christopher Eccelston made for Canadian TV - it threw me...I'd always thought of it as "a time machine" to...but really it's a space-time ship...)

Anyway...

I think the Enterprise (several of them), the Millenium Falcon and the TARDIS could all have runs at number #1 - and they are some of the most recognized ships film & television history...the drop-ship from Aliens was cool - but it's no #1...

I would have defnintely included nuGalactica and the Narada.

WTF is this Babylon 5 everyone talks about?

I'm pretty shocked nuBSG's basestars aren't somewhere on the list. They'd probably wind up close to #1 for me. Sure, it turned out that show sucked, but the basestars were outstanding designs.
