Top 75 spaceships of Science Fiction

Can't say I agree with their rankings, but the detail in that article (in the two pages that I perused) makes for a good read.

Yeah, a lot to be desired and a lot that probably shouldn't be there (I like Enterprise, for example, but it definitely seems over represented just from the first couple of pages on the list. I'd argue the same can be said of the Prequel Trilogy ships). But it's a fun read and it covers a wide range of sci fi history to get what it gets (and let's face it, any list is a monumental task, so the author deserves credit here).

Neither of the Galacticas made it? No Borg Cube? The Discovery is #16 after the fucking Betty from Alien: Resurrection and the Moonbase Dildocepter? The Star Destroyer is #21? The Millenium Falcon is not #1 and the Enterprise not #2?

Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?

Agreed with everything you said.

EPIC fail.

Im confining this to visual fiction..animated and live...otherwise it would be RAMA!!

While not necessarily prolific, I always thought the "Ancient City-Ships" of Stargate were cool.

The Goa'uld Cargoships were pretty neat too.

Have to admit the Odyssey from Ulysses 31 was very much an out of left field inclusion. How many other people here actually saw that series?

Babylon 5 isn't represented at all? No Minbari battle-cruiser, White Star, or Shadow ship? Blasphemy!
They seemed to favor 'ugly practicality' designs the most. Still, why no love for the Omega Class then? Did they figure the Leonov was close enough?

I think you need split the list up.
Top 25 Capital type ships (Example: Enterprise NCC-1701-E)
Top 25 Medium type ships (Example: Millennium Falcon)
Top 25 Small type ships (Example: Delta Flier)

That way you can compare similar ships.
That list has some real odd ones on it. Where are all the DS9 ships, that series had some the best space battles with all kinds of ships.

I'm pretty shocked nuBSG's basestars aren't somewhere on the list. They'd probably wind up close to #1 for me. Sure, it turned out that show sucked, but the basestars were outstanding designs.

I feel the same way about Babylon 5. I'm definitely not a fan of the show, but it's deeply unfair for them not to have any representation on the list. And if the article was going for practicality, the Starfuries in most cases would be a sure bet for top 10, nevermind top 75. But that's what happens when Star Wars is overrepresented.

(And for the record, I'm a Trekkie who loved nuBSG :) )

The Shadow ships would be in my top ten, too. :)

I also really like the Earth ships in B5, although you could potentially justify their exclusion from a list like this, since they're essentially the Discovery with guns.

me. yoooooooo-la-seee-eeeeee-eeeee-eeees...

I watched it. Can't for the life of me remember what the ship looked like though.

It was a ring design with a large globe in the middle what would open like an eye when the ship was travelling.

X-304 for the win, a ship that would seem comfortable in both Star Trek and Star Wars.

And no ships from the sekai no senkai..... Shame on them.
