Top 5 TNG

Really hard to choose a top five, I'm only 100% certain about the first one

Cause And Effect (seriously, this is my 100% alltime fav episode in all of Star Trek)

The Measure of a Man (I love how they prove that Data is a specie, especially since Riker does such a great job proving otherwise. Also love the ending, very touching talk Riker and Data had)

Inner Light (gotta love a classic like this one, especially love how they, every now and then, mention this episode, in later episodes)

Parallels (No idea why I love this episode so much, I just do. mmm perhaps it's the Klingon humor)

Tapestry (I really like this episode, how you're confused as to wheather or not it's all real, however I liked the DS9 episode with Sisko [where pretty much the same thing happens to him] a lot better than this one [yea I watched DS9 before I watched TNG - stupid move])

Haha, seems like I love the whole displacement of time and reality, idea :D

Good man. "Inner Light" and "Tapestry" would make any one of my top lists always.

I also really care for "Chain of Command," "Yesterday's Enterprise," "The First Duty," "Sins of the Father," "Measure of a Man," "The Perfect Mate," "Q Who," "Captain's Holiday," among many others... pretty much any episode on the Klingon arch, or Data's search for humanity (Data's Day, In Theory, etc.) All good.

Too Much Fun: When it comes to creative twists ''Remember Me'' (4.05) suddenly crosses my mind. How did you like that one? I really enjoyed it.

I haven't seen that one in awhile. It's one of those episode I skip when re-watching the series, but I'm thinking maybe I should give it another look based on your recommendation. I recall finding it rather hokey. I wish I could be into it because I like the character of Dr. Crusher a lot and would have loved to enjoy more episodes centered around her, but unfortunately I think most of those are really bad. I also can't stand The Traveler and on principle skip all episodes he's involved in.

It's hard for me to make a top 5, because I'm so torn about "Deja Q". For about 99% I think it's a perfect episode with terrific performances and dialogue, but then Corbin Bensen shows up and ruins the ending. I hate his Q character and performance so much. My other favourites are:

1) The Best of Both Worlds
2) Yesterday's Enterprise
3) The Measure of a Man
4) The Hunted

Pretty standard list, other than "The Hunted", I guess. I never see people praise that episode, but I love it. I think the guest star gives an excellent performance and plays one of their best, most interesting, and underrated one-shot characters, and his interactions with Data, Worf, and Troi are really fun.

Other episodes I might stick in the 5th spot are "Cause and Effect", "Time Squared", "Lower Decks", "The Offspring", "The Inner Light", "All Good Things...", "Lessons", and "Attached". Those are some of the ones I find most moving and exciting almost equally. I'm not sure about the last spot, but I'm pretty sure that top 4 will always stay the same. Those 4 episode never cease to enthrall me, no matter how many times I see them.

Why can't you stand the traveler? While I don't "love" him, I don't really mind him either. By coincidence he happens to be in 2 of my favorite 5:

1. Where No One Has Gone Before
2. Remember Me
3. Best of Both Worlds, 1 and 2 (I consider it 1 episode)
4. Relics
5. All Good Things, part 1 and 2 (also consider it 1 episode)

There's more than 5, but if I were hard pressed to choose, these would be the ones I would never get tired of watching.

In no particular order:

Darmok (I'm so happy to see many of you put this on your lists)
Conundrum
The Inner Light
Genesis
First Contact

Well as I said I haven't seen a Traveller episode in awhile since I skip the episodes I didn't like, but I recall him being a rather lame, irritating character. I also think it's kinda creepy how he was always fixated on Wesley. :wtf: Interesting to see people mention "Masks" and "First Contact". I'm not a big fan of "Masks" (it's another one that I skip), but I remember thinking Data's possessed performance was quite effectively freaky.

I always enjoy Brent Spiner's performance when he plays Data as possessed (i.e. "Power Play", "Brothers"), and the interactions between Riker and the woman who frees him in "First Contact" are some of my favourite comedic bits in the whole series. In response to the person criticizing "Who Watches the Watchers?", I agree that the scene where Picard makes that ill-advised viciously preachy speech where he denounces religion is unfortunate, but I like the rest of the episode.

1.) The Best of Both Worlds I
2.) The Defector
3.) Reunion
4.) Masks
5.) Starship Mine

You put "Who Watches the Watchers?", "Lower Decks" and "The Inner Light" in your bottom 5 and put "Masks" in your top 5?
Are you from the bizarro world by any chance? "Masks" literally made no sense and was terribly acted.

^^

People like different things, man!!

Just because you like a certain episode doesn't mean everyone else does...;)

We'll just have agree to disagree. :) I always liked "Masks." True, it has no heart or morality play component; it's simply an exotic adventure story. But I find that refreshing every now and then. Plus, I love the atmosphere of the episode. IMO, Spiner was amazing in all those roles. And the scene where Data grabs Picard's hand and starts to hurt him is acted amazing well by Stewart.

As for "Who Watches the Watchers," "Lower Decks," and "The Inner Light," like I said, I either find them overly heavy-handed or just boring.
