Top 5 favorite TOS episodes.

Yeah, I was going to point out that The Cage and Where No Man Has Gone Before have consistently been in the Top 10 and often the Top 5 of the polls in this forum since I've been here. Although times change and they seem to be less popular with our newer members.

Well, I tried to be a bit different and choose the pre-broadcast cut of WNMHGB with it's opening log entry by Kirk and the even moreso dramatic theme.

I like both and they'd be in my top 10 for sure. For a Top 5 I limited myself to the post pilots stuff. Not sure why, but it makes sense to me.

1) "I, Mudd"
2) "Balance of Terror"
3) "Errand of Mercy"
4) "The City on the Edge of Forever"
5) "Amok Time"

1. The Ultimate Computer
2. The Doomsday Machine
3. I, Mudd
4. The Immunity Syndrome
5. Journey to Babel

Hmmm and they're all season 2 eps. (pssst hey iTunes, Season 2 of TOS was the best, put that up for download!)

"Journey to Babel"
"The Trouble With Tribbles"
"The City on the Edge of Forever"
"Gamesters of Triskelion"
"Balance of Terror"

... and there are a few quirky indulgences, such as "I, Mudd", "The Way to Eden" and "Whom Gods Destroy", which I love to play for a few smiles. And Yvonne Craig.

Balance of Terror
The Doomsday Machine
City on the Edge of Forever
Dagger of the Mind
Court Martial

Those are my favorites at this moment. They're always subject to change.

  1. The Doomsday Machine (action, the most special effects and William Windom)
  2. Where No Man Has Gone Before (set the pattern for the series)
  3. The Tholian Web (lets the cast shine without Shatner)
  4. The Cage (classic)
  5. The Corbomite Maneuver (Kirk at his best)

In no particular order ...

  • Balance of Terror
  • The Corbomite Maneuver
  • Space Seed
  • A Piece of the Action
  • Mirror Mirror

Errand of Mercy
The Deady Years
The Doomsday Machine
The Tholian Web
Balance of Terror

My personal top 5, more or less in order...

Balance of Terror
The Doomsday Machine
Mirror, Mirror
A Piece of the Action
Tomorrow is Yesterday

In no perticular order, the top 5:

Amok Time
Journey to Babel
City on the Edge of Forever
Balance of Terror
Tomorrow is Yesterday

There were, of course,a whole bunch of other great episodes!

If I had to pick 5, I suppose it would have to these...

Wolf in the fold
City on the edge of forever
All our yesterdays
What are little girls made of
Devil in the dark

Top Five:

City On The Edge
Corbomite Manoever
