Top 5 character deaths of this tv season?

Might be spoilers because I don't know who has seen which show, so i would ask everyone to list the show before you mention the death.


1 The Shiled=Shane killing himself and his family. One of the most disturbing scenes in tv history. It's great also we get to hear what he was writing before the cops broke in later on.


2Heros= Nathan's death and "rebirth". Most people hate it but I think it's a great idea. The idea that a bad copy will still exsit on the show is a fun idea. It's like adding a new character to show. I also Like how graffic the death was as well. Between this show and "Caprica" I see throat-slashing as the hip new murder of choice for tv. Looks like the old snapping of someone's kneck is yesterday's news.

3Terminator=The sudden and unexpect death of BAG. Didn't see it coming and I like it when a show can surprise me. I like how Derrk is then buried in the same place as his brother.

4 Battlestar Galatica=Death by firing squard for Geata and Zarak. You just don't see series regular being killed by fellow series regulars that much, much less by firing squard. granted you don't see series regulars turn on it's shows main characters that much either unless they are influenced by alien parasites and whatnot.

5 Battlestar Galatica=Dee shooting herself after it looksl ike she is really happy. I like how they show her looking at ap icture of herself as a child and sort of loosing hope or at least that's how I view her motivations. It's made even better were Adama is drunk and is pretty cold towards his son around her dead body.

I know my favorite thus far has been Brother John Cavil on Battlestar Galactica. "FRAK!" and then a gunshot.

Number two would have to be Chief Tyrol's reaction to finding out Tory killed Cally.

so pissed they killed my fave hero. I dont know about this Nathan 2.0. He might not even end up being a new character. It will just be more of Sylar having identity issues & once he realizes he still likes to kill, bye bye Nate 2.0.

what was with them having such a long lingering shot of his blood gushing throat anyway? why didnt they just have Sylar slice his head like he does with everyone else?

Derek's death was really unexpected & sudden, but it kind of fit that show's tone for some reason...they are both genre but T:SCC is much more realistic in its treatment then the campy Heroes...

I'd probably have to wait for the 24, Lost, Smallville, and Supernatural season finales before I made a proper top 5. Just in case.

^Yeah, Derek's death was definitely a "whoa" moment, but they dealt with it in a realistic fashion that fit the tone of the show.

I thought Dee's death was far more shocking than Gaeta's. It was really heartbreaking because it came so suddenly.

^ I agree with melancholymecha that Nathan's death on Heroes was cheapened by the fact that this will inevitably be nothing more than Sylar 2.0 and that really sucks. But what they did with Nathan's character this entire season has made absolutely no sense, either.

^If you're afraid of spoilers, you shouldn't have come into a thread about character deaths across TV shows in general.

Derek's death in TSCC was shockingly effective at the time, but somewhat undermined by the fact that they brought back an alternate version of him at the end of the season finale. In retrospect, knowing that it wasn't meant to be final, it seems less daring and more gimmicky.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Kutner from House. Just as shocking, sudden, and unromanticized as Derek's demise, but much more permanent.

I didn't think Bill on 24 dying was all that bad, as people are EXPECTED to drop like flies on this show; it's become so common that I find myself guessing right from the first episode about who will make all the way to end, and who will not. There's so much death and destruction on 24 that almost everyone is fair game.

But, to be fair, the point of the thread is not whether the death was expected or possible. Bill's death on 24 makes the list, for me at least, because of the way he went out. It was a dramatic death, worthy of the character.

Speaking of expectations, though; if the writers have the balls to kill Clark Kent at the climax of his fight with Doomsday, in a true Smallville re-creation of the Death of Superman, that would more than likely end up as #1 on the list.

What? I can live in hope.

1. Nathan Petrelli, even if I guessed it before the episode aired, and basically what the upshot would be (Sylar etc). The possibilities for S4 boggle my mind! And no, I don't feel he's gone forever, simply because I still get to watch beautiful and amazingly talented Adrian Pasdar, with an even more interesting role than before - crazy like Farscape in its prime!

2. Zarek and Gaeta's death by firing squad. Frak.

3. Cally being airlocked by that bitch.

4. Daniel Faraday's death last night on Lost - not that I gave a damn about the character (and the actor errr isn't all that good) but the plotline they set up from here on out should rock!

They wanted to make it "special" - not like all the other deaths.

I better scram before anyone says anything about Dexter. I have a hunch who dies in the S3 finale, given all the caterwauling around the time it aired last fall, but I don't want it confirmed till I get my paws on those DVDs.

It's Rita, isn't it? Frak. So Dexter is going to adopt Astor and Cody? These writers are warped little puppies!

How about favorite non-deaths this season? I really expected Danko to die in Heroes season finale and it's fun and surprising that he didn't. Maybe there's hope for Tony Almeida's survival (NO NO NO he's not a bad guy, he's just a triple agent, out-Jacking Jack in the psycho/patriot/epic martyr competition they got going on!)
