Tom Paris - awesome or vastly underused?

I'm not even going to tell you what sheets I thought of initially.

Just OT.. what kind of name is Gates anyway? She of the beautiful hair..

"Cheryl" Gates McFadden

Sounds like her parents were at war over what to call her, there was probably an aunt with money putting pressure on them too, if "Cheryl" left the house being labelled by her middle name, but that happens all the time, compromises and second chances.

I'm more intrigued by why Frakes legs are Spread so far apart in that picture.

First I assumed jock itch, but then I noticed that the entire crew were legs akimbo which could only mean two things.

1. the sea was rocky and they were having trouble standing straight and still for the photographer.
2. They'd all shared something with a dozen legs at a recent orgy.

A friend beaned me once because I galloped towards her for a hug and we ended up in a tumble which streaked her white jeans from ass to kneecap with grass stains.

Why make white clothing?

It's madness.

One of my favourite quotes...

"Frank Castle is clinically insane because he goes out every night to beat men to death in white gloves."

Allow me to chime in -- now that my account is finally "fully functional". To me, Tom Paris is one of the (if not THE) most multi-faceted characters in ST. He is pretty much the only one with more than one job, pilot and medic -- not to mention shuttle designer; he has several hobbies that turn out quite useful, to wit, holoprogramming, 20th century history, and car mechanics; he gets into and sustains a lasting relationship; has a child; and did I mention he's the only one who actually CHANGES during a series, and has a genuine character arc? So yes, I think they used him well; I've called him the true Voyager of the series.

Someone earlier said he wouldn't fit into Starfleet. Well, after the demotion he really does his darndest to do just that, and earns -- literally EARNS -- his rank back. (Remember "One Small Step", just as an example?)

For all the above reasons I've made Tom Paris the focal point of my own post-Endgame story series (yes, I admit it -- I'm a geeky fanfiction writer, stopping short of erotic dreams though). He's tremendous fun to write. And yeah, I wish the writers had done more of that, but if RDM didn't get a ton of lines in each and every episode, neither did the others; it's called "terms of contract".

Cheers all, and happy to be on BBS!

Do you ever wish you'd heard the "leave that blond prick alone" speech Chuckles forwarded the Maquis after the pilot after he promised to stop the assassination attempts?

Neelix said that his first impression of Tom was that he was licentious.

Definition of LICENTIOUS

1
: lacking legal or moral restraints; especially : disregarding sexual restraints

2
: marked by disregard for strict rules of correctness

li·cen·tious·ly adverb
li·cen·tious·ness noun

**Sigh**

Neelix is a drug dealer.

This is what completely irritates me.. LICENTIOUS?! No way. Kind of leg-humpy, that's about as licentious as it gets.

All this rogue, sex prince stuff makes me think people are watching VOY from a nunnery.

two things.

He obviously slept with Janeway when she was his Science officer and it ended badly, which is why she has such stringent rules about sleeping with her subordinates.

I'm not sure if it's from the last episode or a horrid novel I regret reading, but B'Elanna and Tom plan on setting Owen and Miral up on a blind date so that they can be brother and sister.

If one or both of those couplings actually happened, then Owen Paris IS the King of Sex.
