Not only that, but Paris doesn't seem like the Captain of a Starship type. Not everyone becomes a Captain. He likes being a Helmsman. From there, he'd find something else to do afterwards.
A character moment is when there's a celebration on Earth, or a Starbase, involving Seven's birthday or a promotion and Paris being invited.
"Hello Seven"
"Captan Paris. How wonderful you could make it."
There's a reason and it works in the plot. Paris being the captain of the Enterprise is, again, highly unlikely. Him actually by sheer luck being the ONLY one nearby when Seven needs help..... That's not a character moment, but fan service/fan wank.
I could see him becoming something like Tom Cruise's Maverick. Maybe he hangs around the Academy, training hotshot pilots. Or, teaching isn't his style, so he carries out missions for Starfleet that only a hotshit ace pilot can handle![]()
If anything......
Had Tom not gotten together with B'elanna, I suspect he might stay in Starfleet. But, with Miral there as well, I wouldn't be surprised if both decided to get out of Starfleet and have civilian jobs. Tom becoming a testpilot or working on shipdesigns. B'Elanna becomes a civil engineer.
I know that in the Voyager Relaunch series they both decide to stay in Starfleet. It just never really rung true for me.
There is no reason why he couldn't become a holo author like he did in the original Endgame timeline.
Would make sense to me that he would do the celeb tour in LDS and then by Picard have retired to write stories
There's also Lower Decks which shows Tom is still in Starfleet as of 2381 or 82 (there's some confusion as to what year season 2 takes place in).If anything......

Fan service. Way too much fanservice.
Pilot episode: "Caretaker". Janeway insists on babysitting Miral even though she's a grown woman.
Controversial opinion: YES!Is there such a thing?

Well, that would be kind of difficult if we were going to see the Enterprise on the show. I commented above that Robert Duncan McNeil is difficult to schedule. Aron Eisenberg is even more difficult to schedule...Why not Nog as the captain of the Enterprise?

Absent holding a seance ...![]()
Did the show suddenly become Star Trek: Paris and nobody told me?
OMG imagine it as a "shocking" twist on like episode 10 of 13. I can actually see them doing it, the show completely ditches it's established direction to become a hasty "find/save Tom" thing in the last couple of eps and by the end you're left wishing you put anything else on instead. No, it's actually Nick Locarno as Tom Paris.
