To See or Not To See?

Do you currently intend to see the movie?

  • I don't have serious concerns about the movie, but probably won't see it.

We need to keep this list of people who claim they will not go an see this movie and then bring it back out in May and compare it to the eventual review poll.

I'm sure just about everyone who takes the time to go to this BBS will see the movie. Those who say they don't intend to see the movie will give in once it hits the theatres and their friends come back saying they like it.

Hm...I'll have to try to remember to re-post this poll in past tense once the movie has been released.

Interesting idea...but unless other people are in favor of it I'm not really keen to do so...I mean, we could theoretically repost it after every "major" announcement about the movie, but...

...well, what woud be nice would be a built-in way for people to edit their answers, really.

Of course, if other people want to run with it they can, not like I can stop them. :) Though if they intend to basically copy the format of this poll I'd kind of appreciate a citation.

I do have some concerns, but nothing short of an asteroid strike's gonna keep me from watching it -- first day, first show.

I have some concerns...fewer than a couple of weeks ago, to be fair...but I am definitely going to see it. No way I'm missing any TREK movie.

I'll probably see it. Don't know enough about it to have serious concerns. Most of what we know comes from second hand, people who probably intentionally get things wrong to not seem like nerds. Not too credible.

I'm in the 90+% of those answering the poll. I'll go see it. I'm looking forward to this movie, and a new invigoration of the Star Trek franchise.

Not bad. So far only 10 of us are either most LIKELY not going to see it or are dead-set against the movie in any capacity. Commendable considering how much we bitch about the film.

Voted for the second to last option. I won't go see the movie in theater nor catch it on video. I have inexplicably lost nearly all of my passion for the Star Trek franchise in the last year or so (nothing to do with XI). Since apparently I no longer care much about Star Trek so I don't have any concerns about the new movie either. Mind you I caught the trailer but it hasn't alter my current unfathomable mental state regarding a Scifi franchise that once I was addicted to.

Like many people, I'm concerned about possible canon conflict, but meh.

I originally didn't plan on seeing it because it's TOS-era and I'm not a fan of TOS... but my dad (who has been a fan of all things Trek for far longer than I have... but I betcha I can beat him at a TNG trivia game!!!) REALLY wants to see it and wants me to see it with him. We're not seeing it on opening day because I won't be back from college yet.

I plan to see the movie though I do have some doubts about the writing and characterization. Whether having had JJ Abrams take over the franchise will pay off in the end, that remains to be seen. If he hasn't made a good movie and it fails, that's the end of Trek, at least in big budget form. I hope the movie is creatively successful but I have my concerns.

Not necessarily. Abrams and his team can be tossed out of the franchise and another set of producers can be hired to take a shot at TREK XII(if one got greenlighted provided XI somehow and unfortunately tanks), but the question would be: who?

Berman and Braga are no longer involved, and after the relative failures of NEMESIS and ENTERPRISE I dunno if Paramount would have faith in them to come back after close to a decade and revive some old magic that they might not have in them any longer.
