Well, this is just based on my own opinions, but I'd suggest completing Season 4 (which I thought was pretty solid, and one of the series' best), and maybe Season 5 (which was less solid, but still had its fair share of decent episodes).
After that... meh. Seasons 6 and 7 are kind of dull, and don't really add up to a whole lot. Overall it's watchable, and there's still the occasional standout episode, but to me, it felt like the writers weren't even trying anymore.
Voyager was never the best
Trek series, and this became even more apparent in the last two seasons. The problems that were plaguing the show from the beginning (and continued to plague
Enterprise, at least for its first couple of seasons) were even more obvious: no risks were being taken in the stories, nothing ever changes (i.e. the characters don't grow, the ship always stays in pristine condition, etc.), and you could watch almost all the episodes in any order you wanted and it wouldn't make much difference -- which may have worked in TOS and TNG, but television was evolving past this static nature, and
Voyager failed to evolve with it. It just felt like more of the same, more of the same... a kind of TNG-lite.
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't hate
Voyager --it was still a decent way to kill an hour, and there was plenty of worse stuff on TV-- but by the end, I felt like I was watching it more as a completist than a true fan. If it hadn't been a
Star Trek series, I'm not sure I would have bothered watching at all.
But that's just my own $0.02. Obviously, there are a lot of fans of the series here, so it must have had a certain appeal for some people. As I stated, even I liked the show up til around Season 6. So yeah, I'd suggest finishing Seasons 4 and 5, and then proceeding from there. Start Season 6, and if you're not really feeling it after a few episodes, you probably won't care much for the subsequent episodes.
Hope you found some of this useful. If you decide to watch the rest of the series... enjoy!
