To Dare a Dream?

One thing I have really enjoyed in my 40+ years of watching STAR TREK? The goofy titles they come up with some time. DS9 seemed to really take this to a new level by coming up with titles for an episode that left you scratching your head going "huh"?

TOS did it too. "FOR THE EARTH IS HOLLOW AND I HAVE TOUCHED THE SKY?" Not one of the better episodes, but the title alone makes it watchable.

What are some of your craziest Star Trek episode titles and why?

Oh, for me it's got to be TOS's "Operation: Annihilate!" That one always makes me laugh. It's so delightfully cheesy.

Most of the titles are really pretty cool, though. I love the ones that make me think a little bit.

I only bring this up because in another forum (the one where a thread is titled THE IMPORTANCE OF RAIN) they seem to want simple A-B-C titles for threads..I would think being STAR TREK fans we would, you know, think outside the box rather than zillions of threads titled WARP ENGINES..or SHIP SPEEDS or SPOCK'S TRICORDER...yuck...

I liked DS9's whacko titles. They had many of them..PALE MOONLIGHT--MOVE ALONG HOME--PROFIT AND LACE--DUET--SHATTERED MIRROR--Dramatis Personae--Little Green Men--Waltz....and my favorite? Treachery, Faith and the Great Rivere...

I love that kind of stuff!!

Operation Ahilate was indeed cheesy!!! Right up there with The Corbormate manuvre..I love it!!!

I actually thought DS9 had some of the best titles for their episodes, quite poetic at times. I guess I'm a sucker for those latin phrases. :p

"These Are the Voyages..." -- Perfect name for the last episode in an 18 year run. I wish the quality of the episode could stand up to it's title.

"Spock's Brain" -- Maybe they could have found a Shakespeare quote about madness? Or used something like "Thought control"? Still, I love the title. Great fun.

"The Sacrifice of Angels" -- Deep stuff.

"Silicon Avatar" -- Pretty. Almost poetic.

"The Trouble with Tribbles" -- A title as light-hearted as it's story.

"The Voyage Home" -- It implies a journey but it's also a journey people often wish they could take during their lives.
