To All Mothers...

My cat didn't get me anything :(
Neither did mine, but she did lick me on the nose.

I ordered takeout - omelettes and fish & chips (will do for several meals).

I feel like I'm the only person who can't stand ikea lol.
I find IKEA furniture ugly to look at, and it doesn't appear very comfortable.

But then most of my furniture is older (one dresser is antique), and some of it's custom-made by my dad. It's unique and very well built.

...amongst the Board Folk....

Happy Mothers Day!

EDIT: I made my Mom a fluffy cheesy omelet with mushrooms...her favorite
You know, that you made your Mother a nice breakfast is rather fitting in terms of your breakfast thread.

My Mother is like a little sparrow. She hardly eats a thing these days so when she suggested we go to... Hungry Jacks for lunch we all rushed at the chance to feed her up! Hungry Jacks is the Australian Burger King. I noticed she had a junior whopper. Still it was better than nothing.

At the time of the OP it was Mother’s Day in Australia.

My youngest son took me out to dinner on Saturday evening to celebrate MD early. I had crumbed scallops with salad (my favourite meal)

My youngest son bought me a giraffe and my other son gave me money for a book. I did not hear from my oldest son but that is part of the norm. I only hear from him when it is his turn for a present.

I like people who like giraffes

Crumbed scallops! Yummo  Don't we have the most colourful currency?

I met my boyfriend's mother yesterday for a mother's day brunch, she is an absolutely wonderful person, I was so very delighted to meet her. I gave my little baby spider a treat yesterday, she came out of her little cave quite a bit and looked like she was saying hi to me, lol. She is just sooo adorable.
So what kind of treat do spiders like??

We have huge spiders here. There is a type called a huntsman. I had one in the house yesterday - God knows how he got in but I suspect he opened the door himself. I shame myself for going all girly around spiders but hubby was in the salt mines so I had to tend to spidey myself. He was big (the spider). I have size limit, lol. I can cope capturing them but if they get to the size of a hand then it's primal shuddering madness and squeals. I threw a towel on him and (I reckon it was a 'him' all right) and pushed the towel out into the adjoining garage and then lifted it up and he was rearing like he was ready to strike. Poor thing. I got him outside and waited for him to run.

Meal worms, lol. She scarfed them. She is tiny now, but she'll get bigger. I just live spiders, whenever I see one in my house I just can't help getting close and staring for a while. I have wolf spiders here, they don't build nests but can jump like 5 feet, she hunts down her prey.

I cannot bring myself to kill them. I used to be that kid who would walk home from school and rescue the worms on the footpath that had come out after a heavy rain.

Spiders can freak me out but I save them, lol.

Read "James and the Giant Peach" and "Charlotte's Web" and then tell me how you could ever hurt a spider, lol. Whenever I find one in my house I always give her a name and make up stories of her exploits guarding my home.

*tosses over a box of Kleenex*

Back when I used to live in a house, I'd allow normal common spiders to build a web or two indoors, to take care of flies... in the spring/summer/fall. But once the flies were gone for the season, I vacuumed up the webs and the spiders had to go, too.

Oh dear, so like once you've got everything you need from them you just dispose of them lol? Oh poor little honeys, they thought they'd done a good job and would get to stick around lol. If you look really close their eyes are like the cutest most adorable thing ever.

I'm not really that terribly fond of spiders, but I do tend to generally leave them alone, since they help to take care of things I don't like even more! :)

Hey, it's not one-sided. I got free housekeeping and they got food.

I live in an apartment now and the management does regular inspections for multi-legged creatures with more than 4 legs. If they find any they call pest control, which is a great inconvenience. Therefore, anything with at least 6 legs and wings that gets in here gets dead.

Would it help if I say that I like earthworms? Not that I have any of those in my apartment, but if I see any on the ground I just let them get on with their lives, assuming they haven't already died for some reason.

I do that too! I think I’m on the 6th generation of Larry, Moe and Raheeb. The names I gave the spiders outside the front door.

I always say spiders are the cats of the bug world.
Spiders and all arachnids are invaders from another world...
But they do control cricket and fly levels....
We'll kill them all when the mosquitoes are gone....
Except of course your Daenyres.
(I misspelled that)
