tng to voyager confusion

Data Lover, I also found Janeway hilarious in "Twisted". Too bad she was supposed to be serious at the times I was laughing the most.

Non-Sequitur, blah. When Voyager was in its original run, this was the only episode (aside from the pilot) that I managed to see from Season 1. Now you see why I am just now making the effort to watch the entire series.

On the bright side, Chakotay will be taking off his clothes in a few more episodes. And there are several good episodes between that one and the end of Season 2.

AMG - yeah, if i had only seen non-sequitar i doubt very much i would have stuck with the series, particularly since it made no sense even (or especially) to those who had watched the previous episodes.

i'm kind of excited to see how this b'elana/chakotay thing turns out, though i would have been more excited about a doctor/kes/neelix love triangle instead of paris.

You know, you might want to see if you can edit the title of your thread to ask people nicely not to include spoilers.

I mention this because I'm very tempted right now to make remarks about who ends up with whom and who I think ought to have hooked up with someone different . . . but I will refrain from issuing spoilers.

amg- i should have, but this was my very first post in this forum and i wasn't thinking ahead. im moving along rather quickly through voyager though so hopefully it won't be an issue for too much longer :)

or you they can put a spoiler tag over future events that DL hasn't watched yet. btw, using the spoiler tag, who did you think ought to end up with whom? just curious.

i think kes and the doctor should hook up, chakotay should hook up with b'elana (but then she must betray him in some way as is his luck with the ladies) and kim and paris should have an awkward and vaguely homoerotic moment that leaves us all wondering.

What, you mean just one? You haven't seen enough VOY.

"somehow i suspect that as i continue to watch voyager your sarcasm here will become apparent"

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get me. ;-)

"My lips are sealed against the anti-spoiler junkie." :-)

Before I answer, please remember that like Data Lover, I'm watching for the first time, too. (Tonight's scheduled episode: Favorite Son.) However, I have read so much about Voyager, I don't think there are any major plot or character developments that I'm totally unaware of.

Perhaps it's because it's early days yet, but I see no foundation being built for the upcoming P/T. I was quite underwhelmed with Blood Fever. On the J/C side, I was similarly underwhelmed with Resolutions and the minimal J/C subtext I've noticed since. Of course, Seven is not aboard yet, so I can't comment on any of her pairings.

The only time I've looked at the screen and thought to myself: "Wow, those two should totally grab each other and go at it like bunnies!" was the Janeway/Torres technobabble scene in the conference room in Parallax, which wasn't even remotely intended to be taken in such a fashion, I'm sure. And I've seen no sign of those sparks flying since.

Basically, I'm thinking right now none of these people look like they would be interested enough in a crewmate to even consider a hook up. (Except for poor Chakotay, who can't even interest Janeway enough to get her mind off a stray lemur.) Which is a shame, 'cause it would have been fun for me to get enthused about a ship on this series. Maybe things will change as I watch more?

I'll shut up now before I hijack Data Lover's thread.

If Tom and Harry are not Gay, then peopel most probably assume that they are because frankly they are always together smiling.

Let's not forget the fact that Harry gave up a cushy life with his attractive, if wooden, fiancée because of Tom, and the fact that Tom keeps a list of all the women Harry was every attracted to. If that's not the surest sign of jealousy then I don't know what is.

kinda like o'brien and bashir. bashir looking like he's always wanting to stick his hookah up o'brien's kilt (or was it o'brien going all braveheart on bashir and thinking of him as his little bonny prince? no matter) while keiko was away. i mean, if playing darts together all the time or that they loved recreating the alamo (180+ men who were without women for two weeks before they died) were great metaphors for latent homoerotic tendencies.

okay, wtf is going on with janeway's hair? i just finished season two where it started as long, then it was a shoulder length bob, and then it was long again. i was under the impression that every season was a year in space, or is this just a weird continuity issue?

depending on how you product is packaged, there was a cock up on the production front and the last 4 or so episodes of season one were aired as the first 4 episodes of season two, there were a few other hold overs but nothing extreme... i didn't think the bob showed up till season 4?

Oh, and the actress had to wear anything from extensions to an outright wig to get the look right per her directors vision. Which isn't too flasefaced compared to how Wang had to pretend he had balls while playing the part of Kim. Little ones though. Not much to improv.

i haven't seen season 4 yet so the bob definitely showed up in season 2.

and pffft, if kim had any balls at all he would have demanded a promotion after the first four times he almost (and once actually did) die ;)

I was expecting the bob to show up after Janeway let the crew use her hair to make fires in Basics, but she managed to regrow it instantly. I think fast-growing hair must be one of her many Janeway Super Powers.
