TNG Returns!

Why does a ship with 10-20 times the volume of Kirk's ship, but only 3 times the crew, need to worry about space usage?

Psychological well-being of the crew maybe? If you're going to be stuck on the ship for 20 years you're going to want to be comfortable.

Indeed. So "wasted" to describe the space in the room where senior crew spend most of their time doesn't seem to be the right adjective.

Remember, the original premise of the 1701-D was that it was on a 20 year mission with families. So, the idea that the work areas aren't cramped submarines seems to fit with the perspective.

Well the families thing was another insane idea. There is no way that ever made sense. You just wouldn't put families in a situation like that. Least of all children. There is a difference between wasted space and cruise ship appointed décor and 'how can we make life easier on the crew'.

Yes, that is officially an image of Brent Spiner wearing a TNG costume top. He officially did that. Officially in public. Officially in front of a camera.

I'm not sure the costume is official.

I see. Hmm, thought it might be a hint that he's in the new Picard show, but actually it's way to soon to get any official pictures, they are for sure not even close to start shooting at the moment - forgot about that in my euphory

What about this? Is that an official photo of Brent Spiner? If so... hell yes! :techman:

It's official; Spiner is officially too old to play Data. :techman:

You're right. It didn't. But it's kind of part of the Gene's over-the-top idealism at the time to think it would have worked. So I kind of have a fondness for it in an almost campy way even if it's implausible.

My apologies if this was already posted... just very jazzed to see Stewart saying he "finally" got around to watching TNG episodes, and actually liked them! ;)

PICARD: "A British movie actor and five screenwriters are taking a meeting in Los Angeles. Well, this is certainly worthy of our attention."

I am not familiar with these people, so I did a quick search on IMDB. Here's a synopsis for anyone else who is in my boat and curious:

Kirsten Beyer - STDISCO, book: "Star Trek: Voyager - Architects of Infinity"
Michael Chabon - John Carter, Spiderman 2 (2004)
Akiva Goldsman - STDISCO
Diandra Pendleton-Thompson - Relative unknown, various smaller credits
James Duff - Various TV shows including Major Crimes and the Closer. Apparently one episode of ST:ENT

So not looking like any of the prior ST:TNG folks or DS9 for that matter.

Of those ‘names’ from the era still working, not sadly departed, or basically retired, they are all basically working on bigger things atm. Elementary. Outlander. The Expanse. The Orville (ok that ones not exactly bigger yet. But it’s big enough.) They could possibly approach them, but maybe only for one offs.

That was my thought, but I was maybe hoping Frakes would be involved. Still an open question as to the whole "team" will be at this point though.
