The thing I don't really get is why Lower Decks is so popular. Is it because it features all the little people? It's not that it's a bad episode, but I don't get why people like it over stuff like Parallels and Pegasus. Guess it's just taste.

I agree. And I especially don't get why people like it more than AGT.
It is about little people, and that is special in Star Trek, but still, there are many better episodes in season 7, IMO, like Parallels, Pegasus, AGT. And I always prefer episodes in which the main characters are more involved.

Yes, because I think that Lower Decks is a better episode than Genesis, which can be fun, but it's so illogical. But they both have too much points here, IMO.
