TNG - Hearts and Minds by Dayton Ward pre-release thread

I decided to make a dedicated thread to Dayton Ward's upcoming TNG novel Hearts and Minds, due out 30 May 2017. The novel looks to be the spiritual follow-up to TOS - From History's Shadow and TOS - Elusive Salvation which Ward has previously hinted at.

An electrifying thriller from the New York Times bestselling author in the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe.

2031: United States Air Force fighter jets shoot down an unidentified spacecraft and take its crew into custody. Soon, it’s learned that the ship is one of several dispatched across space by an alien species, the Eizand, to search for a new home before their own world becomes uninhabitable. Fearing extraterrestrial invasion, government and military agencies which for more than eighty years have operated in secret swing into action, charged with protecting humanity no matter the cost...

2386: Continuing their exploration of the Odyssean Pass, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the Starship Enterprise discover what they at first believe is a previously uncharted world, with a civilization still recovering from the effects of global nuclear war. An astonishing priority message from Starfleet Command warns that there’s more to this planet than meets the eye, and Picard soon realizes that the mysteries of this world may well weave through centuries of undisclosed human history...

I'm definitely have been looking forward to getting this book. I've enjoyed reading all of Dayton Ward's Star trek books.:bolian:

Nice to see Captain Picard on the cover again. I'm looking forward to getting this book. I'm really interested in the formation of what turns out to be Section 31.

To be fair, neither of them is in this thread, the one actually about the book in question.

To be fair, this thread had died a death, had the sum total of two posts and hadn't been posted in since the day it was created by the OP back in October, so it's not like this thread is really the thread for the discussion of the book in question, in a few weeks it will be superseded by the review thread, plus there is the New 2017 titles and blurbs - DTI, McCormack DS9, and more! thread that has seen a lot more discussion.

I completely forgot this thread existed, which is why I posted in the 2017 titles and blurbs thread.

Which is fair enough, as I said earlier, it had two posts from the day it was created back in October.

I personally don't understand the point in having an anticipation thread for a single book, I know some do get a lot of traction, but that's normally in a thread like the 2017 titles thread.

I created this thread because I wanted to talk about this novel in particular. It may not have gotten much traction, but having not looked all the way through the 2017 titles thread, I figured posting the cover here would make it easier to find.

If this novel follows past precedent, then the Enterprise-E crew will probably meet Roberta Lincoln, but as the past portions of the novel focus on 2031, I wonder if Rain Robinson will be the historical human contact.
