Newbie here! Like REALLY new . I am completely new to the Star Trek franchise. I started watching TNG just last year, ( my husband and I watch lower decks as well- he had watched TNG and DS9 in his childhood) and I am completely enamored and never looking back. Haha. Overall, I think all of the main characters are excellent and so well written (everyone has good and bad moments.. mostly good lol) . Almost all of them have been extremely relatable throughout the entire series and it is difficult to really narrow it down to just one. That said, I guess my favorite thus far is Deanna Troi, I think I identify with her the most. Most of my favorite episodes are more Data centric like "Data's Day" from season 4. Definitely a favorite. Also episodes that focus on character development, their past or personal lives. I love when they dive deeper in Captain Picard's life.
Okay, I have so many favorites, both moments and episodes! lol As I continue to watch that just adds up and boils down to me just loving everything about the series. I love to dissect and analyze episodes, character development and relationships, etc. It's been the most WONDERFUL escape when my toddler is asleep and mom here needs a break.

So personal stuff - Being completely new to the Star Trek world, I'll admit I'm a little intimated being here. I've never participated in a forum or a message board before now but I am excited to be here. My husband and I have been social distancing at home now with our 2.5 year old since March and have a love for ALL things pop culture . We play a lot of board games, ( he's a pc gamer mostly), I love to read (recently purchased some TNG books to get started :-) ) and we are usually crazy about all things Star Wars ( although now I think I've found my place in the Star Trek universe). Anyway, very excited to have discovered this community and look forward to connecting and having exciting conversations.

Welcome! I'm glad you've found us. I hope you jump right in and share your perspectives with us. I've watched TNG so many times that it's really nice to see it again for the first time through someone new to the series. Even though I've seen it over and over, I still love it. I've told my children that when they stuff me into a nursing home, they better make sure I can still watch my Trek!

Trust me, there is nothing intimidating about this place. Our virtual family includes Trek writers, crew members, etc. but also complete noobs like yourself. You’ll find threads where plot or tech minutiae are ground down finer than talcum powder but also threads with big questions to ponder. Mostly, it is a place to have fun so “ Make it so.”

I like them all, too, @Tachyon Flux , but I am partial to the 24th century shows.

    Hi Everyone I'm Jared

I absolutely love The Next generation primarily season 3 but I love them all. I always enjoy the explorations and dialogue with Data and Gordi but I absolutely love when Picard uses his diplomacy to proceed through situations that require such a detail. I particularly enjoy when they go to distant planets and they meet new species and new people while also following the prime directive.

I also enjoy voyager to a degree but TNG has just been such a monumental gravitational venture for me and I always get attached to the episodes as they play--viewing as if I lived it. Each character is unique and I love TNG because of the exploration(s) factor. For example "The Neutral Zone" in season 1 I believe or 2 whichever it maybe really puts a perspective on my mind for thought in which we can dream and exceed time and space; what a masterpiece.

The Hotel Royale with Mickie D and the casino basis with the cowboy like dude challenging data at the table.

Thank you ahead of time for the welcoming and I look forward to meeting you all. God Bless you so!!!

Hey guys, I grew up with Star Trek and really enjoyed the characters and really respect how progressive the show was historically.

Big Star Trek TNG fan, and Spock obviously, as well as the movies and I'm currently re watching some of the past series when I have time.

Great forum and glad to be here!

Hi everyone! Although I've been a Trek (especially TNG) fan for about a decade now, this is my first time on here and reading through some of the other introductions I already feel right at home! None of my friends watch Star Trek so I don't have anyone to discuss it with in real life.

When I watched TNG, my favourite was Dr Crusher (you have no idea how much I shipped her and Picard haha) but during my lockdown rewatch, I've gained a new appreciation for Data and Geordi. Episode wise, the one I seem to be able to rewatch non-stop is Menage A Troi - listening to Picard recite Shakespeare to the Ferengi is guaranteed to put you in a good mood!

    Welcome, @kat0203! I'm glad you've found us.

Yes, Picard hamming up Shakespeare to save Lwaxana is one of my favorite scenes, too.

As a man just a couple of years older than Gates McFadden, you have no idea how much I "shipped" her with me! Don't tell my wife of 43 years.

Having finally gotten 'round to moving my TNG blu-rays to the computer, I thought it was finally time for this comparison video to be made.

I really like TNG. I think that of all the Star Trek series, TNG most represents Star Trek for what it was meant to be. It includes some action, but it focuses on the science of the future, unlike most of the other series. It shows a better future, something that is often left out in Voyager or Discovery. It covers a lot of really important, relevant topics, but manages to, like Data, to aspire for something better. My favorite characters in TNG, without a doubt, are Picard and Q.
