TNG Commerical with Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire"

That was hilariously awesome! They show the one Q played by Corbin Bernsen while singing "visitors from L.A. Law" then they say "Data's head, Tasha's dead, Riker's hanging from a thread" and show Tasha getting killed.

I was noticing, on both versions, the CGI planet sequence is very similar. I wonder how much was done by Paramount and how much was by the individual stations, since the planets are different colours, but the background is the same. And remember, the commercial I posted comes from a station that was near Ottawa, Canada at the time, while the other is from Albany New York.

That was surprisingly delightful. I love the show so much.

When TNG got its delayed Australian TV broadcasts (it went to rental, then sell-thru, home video first) in the early 90s, Paramount Australia showed our club committee this video, but we weren't allowed to have a copy, nor screen it to our members.

When it ran in the USA, correct permissions were not secured for longterm use, so they had to bury it. It hadn't realised it was now out there. Cool!

The last time that I saw the ad aired was around 1997-98 when CHRO was re-airing the show. Between December 1993 and 1997 the station had changed branding styles, so they didn’t re-run it as they did in 93. Instead they cut it up and inserted the broadcast time and station ID in a squeezed look. So the CGI planet sequence was gone and I really felt that they had destroyed the commercial. As far as I remember, I did not save any recordings of that 97 chopped up version.
