I wouldn't mind Craig or Branagh as Picard. I don't know why I didn't think of Terry Crews for Worf! He's an awesome choice!

Some of your choices are the same as mine. I like Goode as Data, and Chastain as Crusher. I'm coming around to Crews as Worf, since his age is kinda immaterial once the make-up is on him. Brie Larson isn't ethnic enough to be Troi, and Larson, Kaluuya, Levy and Goldberg are either too old or too young. Whoopi just ain't Guinan anymore. As for Astin, nah, sorry. I'd prefer a real Irishman in that role.

I'd give Deanna Troi an identifying physical feature that (like some eye color that humans clearly cannot naturally produce).

Give her purple contacts and CGI her eyes about 10-20% larger than a human's. Anime eyes, basically.

Better still a third year cadet who gets a single thing right, and is immediately made captain of the Federation's flagship.

He's made acting Captain of the cadet ship Stargazer, which is promptly destroyed by a Ferengi warship, and ends up rescued by Captain Edward Jellico of the starship Enterprise. He then pulls a mutiny against Jellico, who I guess was selling secrets to the Cardassians or something, and is given command of the Enterprise at the end of the film as a reward.

I don't see why an alternate timeline couldn't be one where chromosomes worked out differently and you got flipped genders.

Maybe we can finally see Leslie Crusher.

This is a silly thread... but the idea of Bill Hader playing "Q" is quite appealing to me.

If Paramount ever does a nuTNG, I won't be surprised if they try snagging Tom Hardy for Picard.

Would be a very conflicting piece of casting. On the one hand he's a well established star that's made a good career after NEMESIS, but on the other hand he did NEMESIS... I can't tell if this would be good or bad.

I did write Tom Hardy off after Nemesis, and when I found out he was going to be in Inception I was...not enthused. I can only assume that his acting flaws in Nemesis were either atypically poor decisions on his part or poor decisions on others' parts.
