TNG Cast in the Kelvin Universe

I've never heard of 3/4 of those people, so I couldn't give you an informed opinion as to their acting abilities, or if they could pull off the TNG characters. Or are you just basing this on their looks? If that's the case, then the two people you picked for Crusher and Q would probably be the closest.

I don't know which ones you've not heard of, but I did try to stick with actors who weren't mega-stars. Most are from TV. I've seen at least one performance from each of them.

Rousey is a crap actress, so this list auto-fails for me. ;)
Well, she'd just be a cameo, dying early so Worf could take over. I just wanted a woman who could believably kick some ass on screen before heroically sacrificing herself.

Aside from her, got any feedback?

They're all far too old. Picard would be 35 maximum, Crusher mid-20s, and the rest late-teens to early-20s. Whilst the E-D would be about 5km long
Actually while Kelvin Kirk, Spock and the others were supposed to be younger than when we met them in the prime timeline, their actors were closer to the ages their characters were in prime. By Beyond the ages synced up pretty good.

So you picked actors for Guinan, Q, Barcley and O'Brien but not Wesley who was actually a main character? Poor Wes.:rommie:

I hope that if TNG gets rebooted they don't just cast actors that resemble the original cast and recreate the original dynamic, they should actually change things. I would switch Riker's and Troi's genders for example and eliminate Worf, he's not needed when Yar is around and I'd rather keep her over him. Geordi would be gay and married, Crusher and Picard would be old friends with ZERO romantic feelings, Wesley would be a regular teenager and not a genius wunderkind.

First, I would stick to small-time actors to play the main roles. Not that these people are not good at what they do, but that I want them to make their roles as different from the Prime Timeline characters as possible, from the Kelvin Timeline. Secondly...no Wesley Crushed as a principle character. In fact, I would have fewer principle characters on screen, with the rest having cameos. At least, initially. Third, I would revamp the aliens a bit. Make them less human-looking. I'd give Deanna Troi an identifying physical feature that (like some eye color that humans clearly cannot naturally produce). Finally, I would make technology border on "magic". Meaning, it is still familiar Tec, but it is so advanced that 21st century humans would have difficulty decipher it. Human beings of the 24th century would be more advanced physically (slightly stronger, healthier and can live twice as long, but are still in near-perfect health), but are not too advanced emotionally (still have a ways to go), but better off than 21st century humans.

Food for thought...

I admit I forgot about Wes.

One thing; everyone's responding as if the Kelvin timeline is a reboot. It's not. Technically speaking, it is just an alternate timeline. That means that while I'm not super-concerned about the actors looking "just like" our classic ones, I can't make too many changes to them.

Also, I definitely wouldn't take the approach of getting them all together as cadets. There's too many disparate ages here, plus I really don't think Spock was supposed to be a cadet in the first Kelvin film. Scotty definitely wasn't.

I don't see why an alternate timeline couldn't be one where chromosomes worked out differently and you got flipped genders. :)
Maybe, but that's not how alternate timelines have worked thus far. The mirror universe kept everyone the same gender, even if their sexuality might have been bit more fluid.

Spock was never a cadet; he was an instructor during the movie.

It's a reboot, using "alternate reality" as a handwave in the same way The Motion Picture used "Enterprise refit" to explain why everything looked completely different.

And they still made it more plausible compared to the original than DS9's batshit-crazy Mirror Universe, with human Vic Fontaine and all the women being bi.

To be fair, we have no idea what the sexual preferences of the women in the Primeverse are either. Or what exactly happened with "Fontaine" in the MU.

I don't think they'll ever do this, and I was just having fun, but have a look at these actors and tell me if they'd be okay for a Kelvin version of the TNG cast:

Enrico Colantoni as Jean Luc Picard
Tom Hiddleson as Commander Data
Emilia Clarke as Counselor Troi
Hugh Jackman as Commander Riker
Jennifer Hale as Beverly Crusher
Caitlin Blackwood as Leslie Crusher
John Barrowman as Q

And just because I'm an asshole: Ellen Degeneres as Guinan
