TNG: Available Light cover revealed

Same here! Super excited. I feel like it's been forever since the last release.

During the interim, I started Vanguard! Just started the second book and I'm loving these characters!

I hope you enjoy Vanguard book 2 it's a fantastic book series.:):bolian: After you finish reading the Vanguard books you may like the Seeker novels. I wish there had been more new books in that series before it ended.

SPOILERS:

Everyone is it just me or is it intentional does the ship on the cover remind you of Narada and Nemo? Is this intentional? Or am I seeing things? It has similarities.

A black tentacled ship with green globes. I just thought they had similar features. I was thinking of a bridge between the TNG era and the Primeverse maybe?

Please dont damn me :)

My copy has arrived. I like the new standard size. I have been reading some old books bought on eBay lately but this feels more substantial and similar to all non Trek books I read. Change is good.

I assume it is a coincidence in artist design, but yes, I see the vague similarity.

Kind of disappointing that they revealed that some of the unsympathetic Starfleet officers we saw in TNG and DS9 were secretly Section 31. That seems a little too pat and easy, IMO. It'd be more startling if they revealed some of the more likable people were mixed up in it, the way that STVI had Admiral Cartwright be a part of the conspiracy to assassinate Chancellor Gorkon.

That's not what happened though. Out of the people who were involved in the Min Zife affair, only Ross is shown to have any association with S31, which was already established in DS9. Nechayev, Picard and the others were definitely involved in forcing Zife and pals to step down, but they did that themselves with no involvement from S31. Ross only brought 31 in after the fact to have Zife et al executed, an action which to all appearances at the time he took without the knowledge of the others (Picard etc saw the S31 agents remove Zife from the room, but they didn't know who they were or what they were going to do). Ross then also took the fall for the entire affair when Ozla Graniv found out, keeping everyone else's names out of it.

I appreciate you trying to bring me up to speed, but as I haven't read a 24th Century era Pocket novel in well over a decade, I'm afraid I have no idea what you're talking about. I was just going by what the cover copy said. :)

IIRC, the internal monologue of Zife's chief of staff indicated based on the expressions on everyone's faces, Zife himself was the only one in the room who didn't recognize the newly arrived officers were in fact Section 31.

God that story is worse than I remember - not only was faux-Picard involved in a military coup, he then handed over the president to an illegal unsanctioned paramilitary agency?

Ah that's better - it's been a lot time since I read it but the word above suggested he knew they were S31 when they took him to be murdered.
