TMP Soundtrack Blooper?

Nardpuncher

Rear Admiral
If you listen to the track Games (on the extended version) at the 2:01 mark I hear a weird twang sound. I'm almost certain it's supposed to be there, as the soundtrack uses many wonderful yet strange sounds, but I wonder if anyone else noticed and/or cared.

I've heard it... it's definitely something being played to make that sound. not sure what it is though.

I'll let you know, if you'd kindly tell me where I might find this "extended" version of TMP soundtrack. Please??

Oh of course. I've had this 2 CD set for several years.
I just confused myself with the "extended" and "enhanced" and "deluxe" and "special" and "collectors" versions. I thought I was missing out on something.

Anyway...I'll listen and hear what I can hear. Thanks.

It occurs in the movie when Spock nerve pinch's the guy in the airlock. It a snap sound made by who knows what.

I just played that scene in the DE...loud: no "twang". I think it's a string break on the take used on the album is all.

There is also a very obvious and annoying oboe note played in the classic TOS "romance theme" that played in episodes like "Shore Leave" and "This Side of Paradise" that stood out among the elaborate wind and string instruments like a sore, crappy thumb.

It's funny, I've been listening to that soundtrack for so many years I just thought it was something that totally belonged. I think I'd miss it if they took it out as an error.

It may have been an example of a happy accident, not an error. That it happened and Goldsmith liked it and kept it in... I think it fits myself.

It's not the take that is used in the film. I haven't lined up the album to the movie, but does the "string break" occur just as Spock delivers the neck pinch?
