TMP Publicity Photos - Decker's Yellow Uniform

Great links to the picks Therin :) Yeah, i have owned and collected all of these, and it's amazing how the 'playablility' and accuracy was so awful for so many of these toys.

Going from the TOS Mego dolls, which still hold such a revered place in our memories for playability and adult collecting sensibilities. A shame the 12" line wasn't priced better and didn't accompany a more play-friendly film in the end.

I bought DST's anniversary TMP Kirk and Spock but I was gutted that they didn't do more of the crew. I did buy all the TWoK ones though so I may well just do a few custom heads swaps on the spare bodies I have there to produce Rand, Chapel, Decker, & Ilia. You can actually get custom heads made based on photographs for about $60-100

Playmates also did a part-range of 5" TMP figures. Most of the others got a "Generations" or ST II version, so I have a half-half representation of almost everyone. I made my own TMP Janice Rand (Uhura torso in beige w/ modified TOS Rand head) and Rhaandarite ensign (putty-modified "Generations" Chekov head - see below). My Chapel is from ST IV, using a Saavik torso and a modified Lwaxana head). I have the parts to do an Ilia in uniform (using the Probe head), a Decker (modified Paris head) and some TMP aliens. Some day.

I get asked to sell all the time. It's like selling your own child.

I was once approached by Billy Van Zandt's wife (Adrienne Barbeau, before she became Senator Cretak in DS9), to sell her my Rhaandarite. An email came out of the blue from a publicist connected with the "Batman" animated series, where she was voicing Catwoman. I was able to tell her I'd already made Billy a Rhaandarite of his own: I handpainted him a Citadel UK metal miniature of his character - way back in 1984. Even though it was so tiny, I'd used a one-hair brush to give the figure yellow eyes!

I love Adrienne Barbeau - she's so cool! So are your customs. :techman:

I made the same Chapel figure as you plus I did a simple beehive headswap for an STIII (ish) Rand. I also did a simple Ilia headswap but it was a pain as they didn't make many TWoK era Playmates figures so I still had a lot of gaps in the crew. If DST had produced a Decker and Ilia two-pack I'd have bought loads of them and headswapped like mad (although TOS Chapel and Rand have now been placed on hold indefinitely - booo). At least DST made all the principle TWoK crew plus Terrell. I've already got a TWoK Andorian using Shran's head and a TMP Saurian that I found on Ebay. I will probably pop and swap the Saurian onto a TWoK body if there's no hope of a female TMP figure to work with for customisation. It's a shame as I would have loved a full TMP crew.

I have a full set of those Citadel figures plus spares. I'm going to do various headswaps to create about 50 different TMP crewmen to paint and display with my Polar Lights 1:350 Enterprise Refit. I've already done a basic Uhura headswap and plopped it on a security guard, drilled some holes for antennae and I've produced a passable Lt Thel'Darra, the Andorian security chief from my Youtube story.

Thinking about it there are enough photos of Billy in TMP to make a head for a DST figure. The main problem is that the male Trek heads have neck pins instead of head pins and the custom heads are designed for head pins - a bit of cut and psating would be needed.

Yay - just won a set of painted TMP Citadel figures on Ebay. I only realised at the last minute that the Uhura figure had been converted from the rare uniformed Ilia, which is the last figure I need to complete my collection! Fingers crossed when she arrives that I will be able to convert her back - her custom afro looks huge!

Well done. Please let me know if you end up with spare, loose K'normians. I could never get any in a twinpack at retail, (although one was packaged by mistake with an Arcturian on an Arcturian header).

I think I do have at least one spare K'normian from Ebay - looks like they were painted and then scrubbed but there were a couple on Ebay a couple of weeks ago too - if only I'd known I could have given you the heads up. I'll have to check what I've got when I get home. I have spares of most now because I'm going to do head swaps for the arcturians, betelgeusians, and zaranites. The K'normians are already in uniform so I don't need the spares for them.

We don't realise how low our standards were in the eighties until we look back as adults!

I've been inspired to finally started drilling the holes for the lights in my Polar Lights 1:350 scale Enterprise. Hopefully when I'm finished it will look a bit better than that picture and I'll have my 50+ TMP crew figures standing next to it to beat the TMP promo shots. Mwa ha haa.

But Decker needs to be in blue-grey, right? Should I adhere to my nerdy side and enforce a more rigid colour scheme on my little lead crew or just attire them randomly? And if I pick a scheme, what should it be?
